DC to REBOOT???

Is there any official location for Metropolis and Gotham? I know Metropolis is supposed to be in the Mid West like Kansas, or is that a "Smallville" invention? I know Gotham is on the water but is that the Atlantic or the Great Lakes?

According to Hero Complex Justice League #1 has print pre-orders of over 200,000 copies, which will make it the top selling issue of 2011. Six other DC relaunch #1 issues have print pre-orders of over 100,000 copies.

I mentioned this several pages back, but I really hope would-be collectors don't rush comic shops and buy a bunch of the same number 1s (ie. someone buying 10 copies of Action #1). Since I am still in a bit of a moving flux, I didn't pre-order or create a pull list at my LCS, and I'd like to get a few of the #1s for novelty's sake. I'd hate to miss out on something because some misguided soul thinks he's going to get rich by buying multiples.

Both cities are on the East Coast. Metropolis is in Delaware, on the coast pretty much due east of Dover. Gotham is in New Jersey, about where Atlantic City is.

Smallville itself wasn't in the midwest until the Donner movie. Prior to that, it was in Maryland.

Not quite. Smallville never had a set location until the Donner film. It seemed to frequently change during the Pre-Crisis era, and the first suggestion on where Superman grew up was said to be in Iowa (though, it wasn't called Smallville at the time).

I was going off something I heard from Kurt Busiek, that prior to the 70s Smallville was assumed by DC to be on Maryland's eastern shore. (Specifically, Kent County.)

"Smallville" did invent the notion of Metropolis being in Kansas and about a three hour drive from Smallville.

@Mr. Light, yes Zee is based in San Fran.

They should take the opportunity of the reboot to move Supes to New York. If the Bugle can survive there, so can the Planet. ;)

I know you are kidding, but the one thing that always bothered me from a story-telling perspective with Marvel is that all the superheroes seemed to be based out of NYC.

According to the DC Comics Database Star and Coast Cities are both in California, and Keystone City is in Kansas. Those are the only major DC cities I can think of ATM.
