DC to REBOOT???

I can understand being upset that they're removing the marriages and such from the new universe, but really it does make sense. If you're given the oportunity to wipe the slate (semi-)clean, then it really makes sense to me that you would restart the relationships.

I'm not upset by it. Just more amused as another comic marriage is magically dissolved.

Then again, it isn't the first time Iris was out of the picture. Back in the 70s, Iris was killed (but not really) and Flash moved only to almost marry another woman. Gasp!

Guess the chances of Wally still being married have plummeted to zero then. Of all the defining characteristics of Wallys life marriage was by far the most important. Why do I envision they will turn him into the wisecracking goof from the JLU cartoon.

They don't even have current plans for Wally, so yeah they chances of him still being married to Linda and having the twins is pretty much zero. It's a shame too since they just recently (as of The Flash Rebirth) introduced his daughter as the new Impulse which I found quite interesting.

I find it interesting that they're using a Flash centric event "Flashpoint" to create this relaunched continuity continuing their goal of elevating Barry Allen's importance in the DCU.

^ Nope. It's really a gimmick and one they can't make work once they're stuck with it. Marriage ages the characters and according to the editorial staffs of both companies this isn't something that comic fans want to see their characters. Apparently all of us want to see them young and in their prime all the time.

Sarcasm?

Besides, what in comics isn't a gimmick?

Good storytelling.

:rommie:

Just was hearing audio from the Justice League panel and a fan basically asked a question regarding Power Girl and said that one of the other panelists stated Karen Starr would be a supporting character in the Mr. Terrific book. The panel deflected the question with a joke then confirmed that Karen Starr will be in the relaunch and there is some kind of connection between her and Mr. Terrific but they wouldn't elaborate but essentially it was implied that Power Girl exists differently...

Funny thing is, I used to love Jim Lee. While the adoration has faded, I actually still like his work on Uncanny and Adjectiveless. I think early WildC.A.T.s was fine too, and his Deathblow style was actually amazing, even to my adult eye (and it's something he regrettably never really followed through on).

Then something happened around WildC.A.T.s, oh, #10* or so, where his art started getting chunkier, or something, and I've pretty much been down on it since.

*What the fuck kind of name is "Alabaster Wu," Chris Claremont? Sorry, I've needed to say that for fifteen years.

^ I don't see why they wouldn't be. Toy companies have all kinds of exclusive deals with Target/K-Mart and Toys 'R' Us now. I haven't seen the panel presentation for them yet so I don't know if the relaunch line will have that but I wouldn't be surprised.

Unless it is DC Universe Classics (which is being discontinued [from the way it is now]) or JLU related, most DC Direct figures are really only available in comic shops or specialty retailers.

That's what I thought. Most of what I see in those stores are the smaller, cheaper figures, or movie tie-ins.

As much as I'm going to be waiting on discounted trades for the bulk of any DC reading I do from here on out Aquaman is one of a few books I'll get monthly.

He's been bad-ass before it's that people tend to get hung up on his seahorse riding days of SuperFriends. He was very bad ass, as his potential to be, was demonstrated in the 90's under Peter David in his own title and under Morrison in the JLA.

Glad to see Aquaman getting proper major attention again.

Aquaman already is bad ass :) I was wondering if this thread was gonna be winding down soon since we probably won't have very much to talk about until the end of next month when Justice League #1 debuts. I guess they'll be preview materials to discuss and more bitching and complaining about things lol.

Of all the Aquaman versions to date, I think my favorite was the Brian Blessed-inspired one in the Brave and Bold cartoon.
