DC to REBOOT???

Not open for further replies.
According to a retailer roadshow report from Baltimore over at Bleeding Cool, Batman has been active in the new DCU longer than Superman - Supes is "the world's first superhero" because when he appears the word has not yet been coined. Bats is kind of an urban legend in Gotham City, working in the shadows.
That also gives them a little bit of wiggle room for the original JSA - they were considered "mystery men".

^^ Semantics. Superman will be the first "Superhero", but not the first superhero. Seriously, do they actually know what they're doing or are they just putting something out there, forget about it, put something contradictory out there and then try and explain why it really isn't contradictory?

Am I sounding bitter about this?

It certainly looks more and more as if they know exactly what they're doing and why, yes.

From what's being said and what's not I'll guess that the storyline and "mythology" surrounding Superman are going to be revised in more startling ways than much of the rest of the line, probably not unrelated to the copyright issues.

And one which has been developed over quite a period.

Now, they're starting off in very positive tones regarding the talent working on these titles, but there's an underlying theme to the business approach here: these books will come out on time. What do you suppose is their plan when "established talent" doesn't deliver? How much of this can be off-shored?

that will be the interesting part.

In that recent "roadshow" that was reported at Bleeding Cool, this caught my eye.

Another change DC is making is that they won’t be ‘writing for the trade’ anymore. Writers have been told to write the story they want to write and not worry about the trade collecting. If they can tell a well-paced story in 4 issues, they’ve been told not to pad it to make it 6 issues. Editorial can worry about how it’s going to be collected. Going forward, books will be trade-collected depending on how the story fits. If a book has a 4-issue arc followed by a 3 issue arc, the trade will collect both. If it’s 2 4-issue arcs or 3 2-issue stories, those will get collected.

emphasis mine. That's something I like to hear. I would rather have a single issue story than something stretched out to make it easier to put into a trade.

But J'onn has been in the League since the beginning. I think they're were even times when Bats would say to J'onn, "you're the league."

It always cracks me up when people say this. Even though the current DCU continuity may say that the Martian Manhunter has been in the League since the very beginning, in reality has was written out of the book in issue #71 (May 1969) and didn't come back until issue #228 (July 1984). The book was highly successful without him for FIFTEEN YEARS. Since I started reading the book during this period, I can easily see him not being on the team. It's only been since the Detroit League era that they started doing this whole "J'onn is indespensible to the League" business.
Yep, for me J'Onn was the guy who popped up in the reprints.(yes kids they reprinted old stories in new issues back then)

Yes. This.

Okay, that's kind of cool.

The more I hear about this the less nervous I get about this. It definitely sounds like they have a very clear idea behind why they are doing all of this. As a comics newbie, I'm really looking forward to diving into these in September.

Ok, this is the picture of the new League from Toon Tumblers facebook, and I attempt at ms paint on Superman.

I tried to use the Perez cover to Superman #1 first, but I couldn't get the colors to look right. I don't like how I got the right leg, but Im kinda proud of this one.

Amateurish as it is.

They forgot to remove Cyborg's metal codpiece trunks.

Does Cyborg have a dick? I've never really been that into the Teen Titans.

No, that would look just awful. It's past time to retire the red trunks.

I thought it would still be a 'body suit' but with the red break in the middle. I actually have on problem with the way they've decided to go. I would have had some yellow on the belt though.

I like the belt (making it both red and gold helps a lot), but I'm sorry, I can't say the same for the red...stuff...you put underneath it.
