DC to REBOOT???

You guys keep talking about what they're going to keep, which confuses me, because I was under the impression that they were going to pretty much just wipe away the whole DCU and start over from scratch?

No, they're not. They're doing something...somewhat more idiosyncratic, apparently. It'll be interesting to see exactly what.

Actually, I kind of wonder what Clark Kent will turn out to be like.

I suppose they could always take away his ability to fly and have him leap over buildings in a single bound. I doubt he would foster the same amount of respect in the superhero community, though...

Alan Scott didn't raise Obsidian or Jade either, right? I didn't even know that Ted Grant had a kid. In any event, they were both busy being offered to Morpheus in exchange for the key to Hell to be actual parents, if I remember correctly. I do remember Obsidian going bugfuck in JSA. It was cool. Hey, I think that was Johns. I can say nice things about Johns!

Good points, and yeah Alan didn't raise his kids. Although as I recall he did check in on Jade a lot more often than Obie.

Ted Grant's grown son (that he didn't know about, of course) turned up in the post-One Year Later relaunch of JSA as a were-panther that goes by Wildcat.

Ah, the Kingdom Come Wildcat. Kinda sorta.

The only Wildcat I could think of when you said that was the one in Crisis on Infinite Earths. But that was a woman, Yolanda something. I don't know what happened to her, but good riddance. Five pages for a woman in a fursuit* failing to overcome her self-doubt would be too many in any series, but in a story as packed to the rafters as Crisis it was just sadistic.

*Has there ever been a story where Ted Grant was mistaken for a furry? That'd be hilarious. Almost as hilarious as Alan Scott's Actual Lantern costume, but intentionally so.

I wonder if they'll ditch the WWII connection all together. Just make the JSA the previous generation of heroes.

That's work for me. The intergenerational nature of JSA is what attracts me to it - having both the Three Old Men and a couple other older heroes ocassionally, and at the same time a cadre of younger legacies like Mr. Teriffic, Hourman, Doc Mid-Nite, Stargirl, and Jakeem Thunder.
Oh, man, Hourman? Can you imagine anyone Timothy Leary would rather hang out with than Rex Tyler? That would be pretty great.

^ Yeah, they'd just point and laugh.

Works for Bruce Banner.

You really ought to read John's late-90s/early 2000s run on JSA. Not Rex anymore, his son Rick. And it also has the fate of the female Wildcat play a role in a villian's origins. :mallory:

I did read the late 90s/early 2000s run of the JSA. Not in a while, though. I remember Rick. Heck, he goes back to Infinity Inc. He's a thirty-five year old IP at this point. I did not remember the female Wildcat in it. I do remember the Daniel version of Dream in one of his two (I think?) DCU appearances saving his mom and dad, which I thought was nice. Hey, what happens to the Endless in a reboot?

But if they're rebooting it the JSA to start in the 1960s (which, of course, is something born entirely out of speculation in this thread :p ), I'd reckon they'd use Rex.

If kids actually did read comics, which they don't and won't, I would wonder if drug-fueled superpowers would be a responsible piece of content. I mean, sure, most modern portrayals have the Miraclo-brand methamphetamine-and-PCP speedball messing its users up in some fashion, but they still look awesome doing it, like Tony Montana or George Jung for 90% of their respective feature films.

Of course, my favorite Hourman is an intelligent machine colony from the 853d century. You don't see that guy often enough.

I was kidding, of course. Also, Banner brings the awesome. :)

Plus, you've gotta have Namor-sized balls to laugh at the Hulk.

Any word on the JSA? I for one would like to see them in their proper place back in the WW II years and keep them there. This is not to say that I didn't enjoy the "modern" JSA stories and I was always a fan of the crossovers in the pages of JLA, but if there is going to be a reboot then I would love to see a JSA in the Golden Age book.

I kind of like this idea too. I would just like to see adventures, set in the past, with the original cast (or most of them anyway).

So there is a chance that the stories will actually be continuing on from where they are then? Perhaps with stuff that happened in the past being changed?

Cool. I want to see the JSA fight the Viet Cong. And Johnny Thunder would make a great hippie.
Well if they return to the JLA/JSA status quo from the 1960s there would be a 30 year gap between the JSA founding and the JLA's founding. So were looking as a JSA founded in the 70s or 80s. (depending on how long the JLA has been active in this new DCU) :p

I did read the late 90s/early 2000s run of the JSA. Not in a while, though.

Ah, my bad.

Yolanda Montez' (the female Wildcat) cousin Alex took control of Eclipso as revenge for Eclipso killing her at some point. Ended badly during Black Adam's invasion of Khandaq though.

Ohhh. Yeah, I remember that. That was when Hawkman was in charge and everybody was all "Is he still an alien?" and Carter Hall said "No, but I want to have sex with my niece" and Jay Garrick was like, "I just don't know anymore." It was pretty great, although I don't really like Eclipso as a concept.

It seems as if this allows for that, depending on the particular character. They've indicated that they're not going to start off with new origin stories, so all kinds of things may be possible where backstory is concerned.

His niece? I know Kendra's connection Sheira was a bit muddy ( she's the daughter of the son of Shiera's cousin or something) but as far as Carter is concerned she's just a woman ( who happens to have to soul of his dead wife...but doesn't know it)

Ah comics!!!!!!!
