I was hoping for the Helena Wayne Huntress, Batman and Catwoman's daughter.

But I knew it would never happen. It would fit the Affleck version but not Pattinson.

Those are nice posters. Is the ROTTEN tattoo along Harley jaw new? I don't remember her having that is Suicide Squad.
I don't know if anyone else is interested, but just as an FYI the e-book version of The Art and Making of The Dark Knight Trilogy, which is usually$37.88US, if currently on sale for only $2.99US.

Cate Blanchett as The Joker would be amazing, and the internet meltdown when the casting was announced would be spectacular.
People already lost their shit when she was cast The Ancient One in Dr. Strange, so I can't imagine what would happen if she got cast as The Joker.

That was Tilda Swinton. Blanchette played Hela in Thor Ragnarok.

Tilda Swinton was cast as the Ancient One, and the criticism had everything to do with this, which was a completely legitimate concern.

I know, it was just the most recent comic book character gender swap I could think of.

At least then the film would have a good actor. She may actually be able to carry scenes with Mr. Twilight to the level of "it sucks, but at least you don't want to rip your eyes out with your bare hands".

I honestly think the only good reason to do a female Joker is if you were doing a version of the Flashpoint Joker (Batman vs his own mother would be epic), but Blanchett is a good actor and lightyears better then the last two live action Jokers (I mean Leto and Phoenix, but she'd probably be better then Ledger, too), so that would be a tolerable, if less the optimal, Joker casting choice.

Looks great to me. More costumey would've been welcome, but the hammer and the hyenas (which I absolutely didn't expect to see) makes it clear they're certainly not afraid of using some of the wackier stuff. And I'm loving Robbie's performance and Macgregor's as well, based on this.

So there are rumors going about (somewhat credibly sourced) that in the wake of Joker's success, WB is considering a President Luthor film. (I'm not going to try to link on this crappy old phone, but it's easily Googleable.) Supposedly this would be an AU take in which Superman doesn't exist -- though the leaker offers the fascinating thought (seemingly as pure speculation) that it could feature "Lois Lane [as] his First Lady, but also the reporter who brings him down."

The real-world topicality of this is obvious, plus Luthor is (IMO) an infinitely more interesting character than the Joker anyway. Hope there's something to this report, 'cause I'm all in.

^Isn't Luthor in a world without Superman basically just a Zuckerberg/Gates/Jobs/Musk stand-in? How would this be any different to a standard president movie?

I'll leave that to the filmmakers (assuming the rumor is true). After all, every character is individual, and ideally so is every story. You could as easily argue that Sherlock Holmes and Sam Spade are interchangeable, or that every narrative involving a detective is the same. It's the job of the screenwriter, actor, and director to devise a character and story that are distinctly and uniquely Luthor. And certainly the Lois Lane idea referenced above would be one way to give your "standard president movie" (is that really a genre?) a novel twist.
