DC Movies - To Infinity and Beyond

New poster for ̶G̶o̶t̶h̶a̶m̶ ̶C̶i̶t̶y̶ ̶S̶i̶r̶e̶n̶s̶ Birds of Prey. Dare to Compare.

Not seeing much in common there, other than they both feature Harley.

The BoP poster is going for that cartoon thing when you get knocked out and have birds chirping around your head, and the GCS cover you linked is... a cover, that has character on it, like thousands of other covers.

Yeah, I don't see it either.

Me neither. They look like two very different posters/covers to me.

Just a tongue and cheek joke about how BOP looks more like a GCS movie. That was the punchline. The vibrant colors, the cast of characters, Harley taking center stage, girl power, etc.

It's not that deep.

Well, it pretty much started out as a GCS movie and it's been clear all along that Margot Robbie's Quinn is the main reason this (fantabulous) movie is being made, so none of that's really that surprising. I honestly wouldn't be shocked to learn that the movie's only even called 'Birds of Prey' for marketing reasons. (More well known name, sounds cooler, safer to name the film after the heroes rather than the villains, etc.)

Per Wikipedia, both BoP and GCS were announced as being in development in late 2016, so they were separate projects from the start. Ultimately, WB chose to back-burner the GCS project in favor of BoP. GCS didn't become BoP, it lost the race to it.

I mean, just look at the cast list. Harley is the only GCS character in the film -- no Poison Ivy or Catwoman. But it features two of the core Birds of Prey, Black Canary and Huntress, as well as BoP supporting player Cassandra Cain.

Thank you both. I had no idea WB was contemplating a GCS movie. I found the poster amusing. I'm not going crazy then.
I can see WB deciding to split the difference between their two most notable female exclusive teams and combine elements.

Perhaps. However, apparently the BoP film was first announced as being in development seven months before the GCS film was (I misspoke when I said they were both announced late in 2016), so it would be a mistake to think that GCS was changed into BoP. BoP was an independent project of its own from the start, though it was always a Harley vehicle, one of several that WB had in development simultaneously (perhaps in competition with each other while they tried to figure out the best way to go forward with Harley/Margot Robbie).

Just based on what we've seen so far, this Harley Quinn movie (that is ruining a good DC superhero team for no reason) is going to make the Snyder films seem like masterpieces in comparison. Hopefully Robbie gets bored and fucks off after this, because DC is just pulling a FOX at this point and making a shitty star vehicle out of a comicbook film. Although, speaking of the "Jennifer lawrence Trilogy guest starring the X-Men", at least the Jennifer Lawrence focused X-Men films still had McAvoy and Fassbender to bring some actual acting and interesting scenes to the movies, this movie just has Ewan McGregor slumming it while he was presumably waiting for Disney to call.

I just wish that the Birds of Prey, an actually good concept, wasn't being ruined for a shitty vanity project focused on a mediocre actress who played a mediocre character in a not that great film.

Well, Felix Leiter was race-swapped before (though not in the Eon series).

He certainly is a more than capable actor for this role, so I like it.
