Darker than Batman getting his back broken and replaced by a guy who went nuts and killed people, darker than Green Lantern went insane and killed the entire Green Lantern Corps, Darker than Wonder Woman snapping a guy's neck, darker than members of the Justice League mind wiping and brainwashing villains, darker than golden age Superman aka the guy from which all superheroes are inspired by deciding the wipe out the entire universe and thus basically kill everyone in DC existence becuase he didn't like how the universe turned out so he wants to start over, and ect.
What, you thought the pre Flashpoint universe was all sun shine and rainbows?
I mentioned before that DC getting darker started before the reboot, but where before the reboot there were dark events in an overall optimistic universe (since you apparently need to use examples spread over twenty years), the reboot made the universe itself a darker place. From Didio deciding that heroes should not have happy private lives, to Amazons being turned into evil man-raping murderers, Wonder Woman killing on a regular basis, a general mistrust from the public towards superheroes ... And, of course, in the color palatte. DC's used darker colors overall than before the reboot (remember, in general, so Superman's costume now being a darker blue than before is not the deciding factor).
And this is my last post on that topic. After almost five years, I'm tired of arguing points which are so obvious to so many people, especially in discussions that don't lead anywhere. You are apparently have an opinion that you're pretty set on, and anyone with a different point of view must be proven wrong or talked down to with a sarcastic remark, and my time is too precious to waste in ultimately moot discussions like this. I'm sure you're gonna ratiotanlize this to yourself by claiming that I don't want my own ideas challenged, or that what's the point of an "ongoing discussion" if you don't discuss things, but I don't care. All that's important is, they're gonna do "Rebirth", it looks promising to me, I'm gonna give it a shot.
