DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

I'll watch it. I think I can get behind this.
It's not Cavill as Superman just yet, but I see a lot that I really like.

Also, it's just a movie.

Same here. There can be a definitive live action Superman, but it does not mean some other versions cannot be enjoyed. With superhero franchises, its all like Esleworlds, anyway, in that one does not impact the other.

Exactly. And what 'definitive' means, depends on what you want from the character. And with so many different version, there's something for everyone.

I feel a lot like I did when the first trailers for Strange New Worlds dropped. I love that show.

As the producers tell it, their pitch for the series was "Why dont we just do 'Star Trek?'"

It feels like the pitch for this could have been the same - "Why not just do a 'Superman' movie?"
“We’re embracing all of the Superman mythology. He has friends who are other superheroes. He has people he doesn’t get along as well with who are other superheroes. He has a lot of the things that we love from the Superman comics that we haven’t been able to see as much of in filmed media, and definitely haven’t been able to see in a grounded way, which is what I hope we’ve created.” - James Gunn talking about 'SUPERMAN'

As a native of Cleveland, I was curious to see if anything I recognized made it to the trailer and I was psyched when I saw the Terminal Tower, and a brief look at Headlands Beach, where part of it was filmed. I was so-so on the idea of yet another Superman reboot, but after seeing this, I'm in. This looks like it will deliver and be a fun ride.

Every Superman live-action production this century, all the way back to Superman Returns, has been afraid of letting the costume pop with bright primary colors, lest people think they were watching a comic book character on screen or something.
I'll never forgive them for the color grading on Superman Returns. The "Look, Up in the Sky" documentary has some clips of finished Returns footage but without the filter and the suit looks so much better.

I forgot to mention in my other post, that as I life long dog person, I think I already love Krypto. It already looks like he's going to be a highlight of the movie.
Yeah, from that 1.5 seconds I can say that Guy needs his own project.
Might be hard since Nathan Fillion is still the lead on The Rookie.
Well we know this Superman bleeds. Weird choice to introduce him all beaten up. I don’t want to see Superman as a weakling.
I don't think that was about Superman at all, that was all about the introduction of Krypto and giving him his hero moment. And if anything since everybody knows Superman is supposed to be invulnerable, this could also be a good way to pique people's curiosity about who or what did that to him. And at this point I think we're well past showing a hero get hurt making them a "weakling", just look at characters like Indiana Jones, he was constantly getting the crap beat out of him, and I've never seen anyone call him a weakling. Hell, over the last couple years I've become a big fan of The Rockford Files and the title character in that got the crap beat out of him in almost every episode of the show.
