DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

Don’t quite know what to make of this, but I will leave it here for your examination and assessment.

I expect to get smacked around for this, but I find that runtime (if true, it’s been floating around the last few days with no actual confirmation beyond unsourced Twitter claims) concerning. That’s “theatrical Justice League trying to cram in as many showings per day as possible” short. Personally, I hoped to luxuriate in this film, not to be given the bum’s rush like a restaurant trying to flip the table ASAP.

While it's true that Superman: The Movie was about 20 minutes longer (143 minutes), that was fairly long for a movie back then. Superman II (theatrical), Superman III, Supergirl, and the Burton/Schumacher Batman movies were all between 122-127 minutes. More recently, X-Men was only 104 minutes, and about half the films in the X-Men series are 2 hours or less, the longest being Apocalypse at 144 minutes. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man was 121 minutes, and its sequel was 127. The average runtime of MCU films as a whole is around 131 minutes, while the average runtime of the first two phases was 125 minutes. So it's entirely possible to do an effective superhero movie in around two hours. That's closer to the norm than the exception.

If anything, I think modern movies tend to be too self-indulgently long, as if this generation of filmmakers never learned to kill their darlings and cut away needless excess. Longer isn't necessarily better.

(Note: This is not intended as "smacking around," but in hopes of offering reassurance that the run time isn't necessarily something to worry about.)

Star Wars was a minute shorter.

I’m good with a two-hour runtime. Films that run longer, unless very special, usually wear out their welcome.

Rather walk away wanting more vs. high tailing it out of the theater because I’m bored.

Hey it's the exact same running time as Guardians of the Galaxy.

In come the Snyder fanatics with their pitch forks

"Gunn is up to his old tricks! He even made his Superman movie the exact same running time as GOTG!"

Baby Brainiac???

Who the heck is Baby Joey?

I like the suit. I prefer they have a little more texture to them, and this one doesn't seem to over do it the way some of them have in the past.

I completely agree, but forward presentation is a thing.
Never heard that phrase. Google comes up with something about babies in the womb.
I assume its refers to modern takes on old properties? Updating designs and such? Well, this is a Star Trek board, we don't like that here. ;)
