CW The Flash Season 7 trailer!

After last week's episode I said I was going into the rest of the season with low expectations. I'm not hate watching the show, but this show needs to do something pretty big to allow me to like it. I mean it's season 7, and the reason I'm still watching is because I want to complete the series.

Well, for the first 50 minutes of that episode I was like, "oh, here we go again". You got bad dialog (We're all in this together? seriously?), more villain pep talks, more CW sentimentality, and it just felt like your average episode of The Flash. The scene when Iris promotes Allegra to the end actually elevated the episode a bit. I got a little emotional with Iris's speech and then the show allowed some levity with the split of Caitlin and Frost and Cisco's reaction was great. It looks like we're getting more Panabaker on this show, not less. I'm all for it.

Oh, and the CGI on the Giant thing was laugh out loud atrocious.

So, I am thinking the Giant is a regular dude that got zapped by the multi-color force, got the Strength Force and it basically turned him into the Hulk?

Barry is lucky that the Giant did not instantly snap him in half considering that Barry is made of flesh and bones. Anyone who can crush a sphere of nth metal, should be able to easily crush a human being. Although, I guess we can technobabble that the Speed Force somehow protected Barry.

I like that Caitlin and Frost are two separate physical beings now. Hopefully, it will open up some interesting story ideas. And I think Danielle Panabaker deserves some focus. I am glad that the writers are focusing on her more considering that her character was really short changed in the early seasons.

I liked Iris' speech at the end. It was very touching.

I do wish Barry would stop sulking and blaming himself. He puts too much pressure on himself to be perfect. The fact is it is easy to second guess yourself after the fact with hindsight. But we did not know how things were going to turn out at the time. We make the best decisions we can in the moment with the information we have. Although I do wonder if this will lead to Barry's obsession with the future that Abracadabra mentioned. Will Barry worry more and more about making mistakes and not being ready for future threats that he will time travel into the future to try to see what will happen before it happens?

A very effective "season premiere" (essentially). I really appreciated how they chose to tell a story focusing on how we cope with tragedy and loss. It's clearly influenced by the real-world disaster we're going through and the losses we've all suffered, and that gave it a depth that the show hasn't traditionally had. I bet it would've been a very different story if not for the pandemic.

David Dastmalchian did an excellent turn as Kadabra, and the story went in a really unexpected direction. The Flash winning him over was effective, though that's the second week in a row we've had a resolution like that. But it then took another totally unexpected swerve, and I guess we won't be seeing Kadabra again.

It didn't quite work for me that Kadabra tried to "save the city" by using the antimatter bomb to blow up the giant. I mean, wouldn't that still have destroyed the city? (Also, since when do you need to "charge" an antimatter bomb? Antimatter will automatically blow up when it touches matter. No charging needed -- on the contrary, you'd need to keep a magnetic bottle charged to prevent the antimatter from touching matter.)

So nobody recognizes the giant? I thought it might be Blockbuster, but he doesn't traditionally wear purple and have a ponytail.

By Arrowverse standards, it was reasonably good. I mean, these are comic book characters. They originated as ink drawings on paper. So why should it be a problem if they aren't photorealistic?

I think the giant absorbed the sphere rather than crushing it.

By Flash standards, it was not too bad.

But clearly the different CW shows have different CGI budgets or teams because the Flash has always had iffy CGI whereas the new Superman & Lois show has excellent CGI.

as someone who doesn’t read the comics, I’m not looking for realistic. I’m looking for something that doesn’t look corny and this thing looked corny as hell.

As we said, that's hardly surprising on The Flash. Unless you're a new viewer, you should be used to it by now.

(And can someone please retitle the thread? It's not about the trailer anymore...)

I finally got caught up in time for the start of the second graphic novel last night, and I think these four episodes are the most I've enjoyed the show in quite a while.
I was pretty happy with how the resolved things with Mirror Monarch, it's always nice to see them ending things without the team just beating the crap out of the baddie.
The way they tied things up, for now at least, with Ralph without involving Hartley Sawyer was pretty good.
Do we know yet if that was the last we'll see Tom Cavanagh?
The stuff with Abra Kadabra was pretty good, it's always nice to see them continue to acknowledge the aftermath of the crisis. My only problem was that the resolution, with Barry talking him down, did feel a bit repetitive after Mirror Monarch.
My first thought when I saw the big was Amazo, but we didn't see him mimic Barry or Kadabra's powers.
Was this the first we've seen Cisco use that version of the Vibe tech?

Caitlin and Frost being split was a big surprise. I'm definitely curious to see where they are going with that.

So the chap above was right about the strength force. Sounds like they’re trying to do what they did with the Green Lantern a few years ago.

I would not assume we will never see Kadabra again. Being a time traveler from the future. Lots of ways we could see him again without undoing his death. He mentioned the Chronarch which is from the comics. It is a computer in his 64th Century that controls everything.

In both of his episodes Kadabra mentions that him and the Flash will become future enemies. But it’s not clear what that specifically means. Does Kadabra know from reading history that him and Flash meet in a Future era that is not his own or Barry’s time either. So it’s e destined to happen from his perspective? But he has died now. Or did it already happen from his perspective but not Barry’s yet.

On the other hand, David Dastmalchian seems to be a pretty busy guy these days, so it's a question of whether they could get him/afford him for another appearance.

I think he means the Flash's future but Kadabra's past. Like Thawne, he battled an older Flash, then went back in time to face him at an earlier point in his life.

Yeah, I was surprised that they were able to get him back this time. He must be the type of actor who likes to always be working. Without committing to be a regular on a tv series he can bounce between film and tv appearances a little more freely. Reminds me of those character actors of previous eras of Hollywood that you would see in small but memorable roles in everything.

I finally found a likely answer on who that Giant was. A newer character from the Flash comics named Fuerza. https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Alexa_Antigone_(Prime_Earth)

I could see that.
I forgot the the comics introduced all of those different forces a few years ago.
So we have the Speed Force, the Still Force, the Strength Force, the Sage Force, and I also so a Life and a Death Force, but I wasn't sure if that was part of this group or a different one.
