CW The Flash Season 7 trailer!

This was the first episode in 3 weeks that I actually liked. Yeah there was pep talk, but mixed with the action it seemed a lot more appropriate and natural this time around. Some of the nightmares (Like Cecile's) were pretty creepy and they referenced quite a bit of past history with Savitar, The Thinker's Chair, and Reverse Flash. I liked that it was Cecile who saved the day this time around. I also really liked Frost and Caitlin's story, but then I think I like all things Caitlin and Frost at this point.

I'm really looking forward to next week's episode. I saw the title as "The One in the Nineties" and I've been watching Friends pretty much exclusively for the last couple of months (I have 7 episodes left). I really hope we get a Friends reference next week other than the title.

Yeah, this was another good one.
The stuff with Caitlin and Frost was good, it was interesting how differently they reacted.
It was nice to see Cecile get on the action and actually help beat the bad guy.
The nightmare stuff with Psych was pretty creepy.

It was kind of sweet that Caitlin was so eager to keep Frost as a part of her after initially being at odds with her. Although it was an oversight that nobody thought to ask Frost if she felt differently.

I have a bad thought.

Shades of DS9, the speedforce is going to go back in time, date Henry Allen, and have his baby.

Well we couldn’t keep 2 Zari’s on LEGENDS since it was cost prohibitive so I don’t we will get to keep both here.

Why wouldn't Impulse go back in time? What, you expect him to think before acting? His name is Impulse, for crying out loud.

Btw, anybody else catch the Crows Security easter egg in this week's episode?

Well, at least in Flash's case both Frost and Caitlyn are good characters, so even if we only get one of them the show will still be doing ok, as opposed to Legends killing off the good Zari and keeping the shitty one :sigh:

Barry is healing the entire episode and the one scene he does have he’s behind a computer console/desk. Anything happen to him?

I wasn't impressed with the A-story. By the end of the episode it felt like it was simply "use as much 1990's slang as possible". The Blockbuster was great, although surprised they couldn't get in a Circuit City joke since it is non-existent now (replacement for the generic technology store). This was disappointing because 1998 was my high school graduation year so this should have been right up my alley.

The upsides of the A story: 1. Good stuff with Chester and his father.
2. The period costumes in 2020. Loved Iris's hair.

Loved all the stuff with Nora/The Speed Force. Although by the end, Barry really needs to have a talk with Iris and find out what he missed regarding her interactions with Nora.

As someone who just finished the series "Friends" for the first time last week, I was excited for this episode, mainly on the title alone. While it wasn't what I was expecting (I wanted a Ross and Rachel reference or something), I thought it was still fun and a nice episode for Chester. The scene with his father was the best part of the episode. It still was a little too technobabbly for my tastes, and I'm still kind of underwhelmed with the various forces, but the season is moving along at a nice pace and the scene with Frost at the end was a scene we would have waited several episodes for in the past when it came to arrowverse revelations.

Had its moments, but mostly I found it rather meh. Chester doesn't really engage me much as a character; he's basically just a Cisco clone, something that was acknowledged in the episode. And the plot with the Still Force guy seemed unfocused. At the point when they confronted him and found out who he was, I didn't recall whether we'd even seen him before. I guess he was established in the interview montage or something, but I didn't remember him. And they were suddenly talking about his regrets about some big game as if it had been established before, but I don't see how it could've been if it hadn't happened yet.

Also, all the talk about Forces as characters is just weird and awkward. And kind of vague too, because they're talking about the Forces as if they're sentient cosmic entities, except this Deion guy was pretty clearly a regular person who'd been imbued with the force.

It's also weird to have a time-warp episode and not have anyone make a throwaway reference to trying to contact the Legends.

Something felt very off about this episode. All these different pieces that did not fit together well at all. Time was altered in 1998 and the present but in completely different ways. So the two storylines felt unconnected. Also that scene with Chester and his father felt so fake. The idea of a child meeting their parent in the past but the parent has no idea has been done before many places. But nothing here felt genuine at all. To Chester’s father this is a complete stranger who he opens up to with very little reason. It does not help that Chester is not a strong enough character to try to create an emotional moment in the middle of an episode with so much else going on.

My favorite scenes were Chester talking to his dad and Iris talking to Nora.

It was really touching for Chester who thought his dad was putting work above his family to learn how much his dad actually did love him and worked so hard to make his life better. I also liked the scene between Iris and Nora. It gave us an insight into how Barry is still coping with the loss of his mom.

Also, it was interesting how Nora was going to change form so as not to upset Barry yet Iris said that seeing Nora actually comforts him. However, seeing Barry's face when Iris offered Nora to stay the night, suggests that maybe Barry is actually uncomfortable with the Speed Force looking like his mom. The trailer for next episodes seems to suggest it will explore this dynamic some more and it seems that Nora will try to bond with Barry and help him. It seems next episode will also explore Barry's relationship with the Speed Force via Nora. That could be interesting.
