Creepiest looking creature in the entire history of Star Trek?

The lights themselves weren’t so scary, but what they did to unsuitable hosts … if I has been British I would have been behind the sofa.

The sound effects are especially creepy:

Believe it or not, Shari Lewis wrote "The Lights of Zetar"......

Ooooh yes
The subdermal bug things and the worm eating was bad enough for me (I'm somewhat of a scoleciphobe)
But what really shocked me about Conspiracy was that Riker and Picard had to *kill* the I fected people. In Star Trek it always seems like there's a way to free people from whatever took over their bodies...yet in Conspiracy... there just isn't.

There's an amusing story in the modern Art of Dan Curry book about the production of the "Conspiracy" parasites. Because the crew (mainly Rick Berman and Peter Lauritson) were understandably concerned about the episode's darker tone and the scenes involving Remmick's death, they asked Dan's son Devin (then about 5-6 years old) to watch the prototype sequence to gauge his reaction. Devin wasn't bothered by the SFX reel and even suggested a Remmick action figure with an exploding head would be cool, although Dan later said this was because his son had already seen the completed makeup work on the Remmick dummy and knew how it would be used in story context. Curry didn't tell the producers that. :D

Some kids have all the fun... :rommie:

Some good suggestions already in this thread. Salt vampires, solanogen-based lifeforms from Schisms, Devidians, Vidiians,, Borg (FC), the Khan parasites, and those Conspiracy parasites, all were creepy looking.

Though the Vidiians were to a slightly lesser degree, imho.
And the final 'chestburster' scene with Remmick from Conspiracy was so over the top that it only tickled my sense of laughter.

I thought the Satarran from Conundrum was pretty creepy, too, even though we only see him for a fraction of a second. And the Lethean from Distant Voices. And those grey aliens from Silent Enemy.

I suppose the species that were supposed to be the most horrific looking would have been the Medusans, but (of course) we never get to actually see them. Driving all Star Trek fans insane would destroy their source of income.

Scouring my memory of this scene, I believe this was the first time the idea of intelligent alien life, completely different from what I thought it would look like (people in suits) was realized.

While not a "lifeform" as we understand it (and Spock referred to it as a "robot"), but the titular "Doomsday Machine" had me pull the "behind the sofa" routine when it first aired! I was not quite 5 yet and highly impressionable. That slow approach sequence with the fiery gullet enhanced by the rhythmic, trodding beat of Sol Kaplan's score literally drove me to duck behind my father's preferred Danish Modern chair (still have the pair of seats), crying, almost screaming to "Make it go away!!!" I don't recall any other memories of Trek during its primetime run. I suspect my father made sure I did not see it lest I suffer another panic attack. On the other hand, I do remember fleeting elements of "Lost in Space", so I guess I was allowed to watch that.

Nowadays, I'll wake in the middle of the night, switch on the TV and catch, oh, say, John Carpenter's "The Thing". Afterwards, I'll turn out the light and drift to sleep with nary a worried thought. But in 1967, that tomato trellis wrapped in cooking foil scared the ever living crap outa' me!

For me this humanoid bird from "The Cage" looks like a pure nightmare fuel and way more horrific and creepy than every other creature or species.

I get shivers by only looking at a pic of it.

Anyone else feeling the same?

Sorry, I find that hilarious. It looks like Big Bird's hippie uncle.

These things. Eccchhhh.

I'll admit there's a but if creepiness, but mostly I just find these things cute and funny.

I suppose it's worth noting that I also find the "baby" from David Lynch's "Eraserhead" somewhat cute and comical, and cannot ever watch the film as the "horror" it's billed as.

Anyway, the two "Star Trek" races that unironically creep me out are the Borg (Voyager's version) and the Vidiians.
