What are some of your favorite Strange New Worlds aliens?
(Also, if there an online database somewhere that lists Star Trek alien species by series? I couldn't immediately find one and to my surprise Memory Alpha doesn't seem to have one. Thanks!)
Some memorable ones for me are the:
Shepherds — not as simple-minded as you first think, and their not-quite humanoid look was accomplished practically, not by CG. Points.
R'ongovians — interestingly alien concept for a species. One that adapts it behavior, that code-switches(?), with the people they're interacting with. Even the at first silly black and white zebra pattern takes on a curious visually noncommittal quality to it.
Lanthenites — maybe one too many aliens on Earth...or like half a dozen at this point...but I like the idea of them walking among us, entirely as themselves, and we have no idea. Very clever. Also suggests ships like TOS Enterprise may have had a lot more aliens on board than we knew. Is that a human, a Lanthenite, an Argelian, an Ardanan, an Elaysian, an Illyrian, a Kwejian, a Tarellian, an Atlec, a Straleb, etc...
Aenar — an ENT creation, I like this Hemmer version of them very much. Though I'm not sure I like what they did with the tips of the antennae.
