Creative Writing, Poetry, Arts & Crafts, and Other Creations Thread

Holy shit.

I've just finished my third Taron & Winúŋna story, and this one really makes me happy. It might be among the best things I've ever written. Though I might be riding that writer's high right now. Anyway, I've settled on the title "Die Opfer von Borikulum", or "The Sacrifices of Boriculum". Though the German language allows for a double meaning, as "Opfer" means both sacrifice and victim.

Anyway, gonna see if I can keep my promise to translate "Reason to Fight" on this last day of my vacation tomorrow.

Another NaNoWriMo has come and gone. Yes, I made it.

Did it in longhand this time, rather than typing (finicky computer makes me paranoid that it will eat my story or do something else to it).

I've gone through 5 pens and am working on my second notebook, and my hand hurts.

And the story isn't even finished (it's one of those projects that just keeps going and going and going because I keep getting ideas and ideas and ideas and my characters say, "Hey, my turn to be written about" and I can't say no.

I've not played for a long time but I used to play keyboards/piano/harmonica and this is is me playing Debussy - La Fille aux cheveux de lin. I love the laid back Frenchness of Debussy's music and him as a character. I tried learning Clair De Lune but lost interest but would love to learn Pour le piano, Sarabande.

I am apart of a new music group called "sound-in" there are about 15 regular people from around the usa and the world some too.. we post like ever week into a new event one of us makes every week- and some of us take the audio improvisations we post and mix them with each other into a new song.. I do this sometimes too but usually I just post my latest synth stuff. and so it is good.. we also comment on each other's posts... every week the event has a new theme --- this week till thursday it is percussion --- so I dug up my bongos and played right into the camera and put it on youtube. --- just to add to the endless videos I make .. even now.-- in a live feed.-- mmmm seeing the piano above by @Malicia made me think to put out there the current things I am doing like these bongos and the current visuals and audio mixes of my music I have been making since before 2000 ---

this is the video for last nite.. and about towards the end of the 5 hours I turned on the video feed from the camera looking at my synth and set the music track to it to be the sounds from the synth while I was playing ,,, live feed and mixed .. I have been using new presets for a set of 128 patches to mix together and alter their totally new settings... and yeah just have fun...

I also recorded this audio and uploaded it to sound cloud --- the new audio rather then the prerecorded audio starts little less then 40 minutes before the end of the live video recording. I then took the recording and tried to separate it into parts --- 9 parts... the whle thing is here. the last song number 10 is the uncut-up recording.

So can you guys see these songs and play time from soundcloud? I have some friends who can't hear them because they don't have the soundcloud account? IDK?

You'll forgive me that I didn't listen for the whole five hours, I hope. What I did listen to, though, has a nice Cosmic Horror vibe to it.

The oil on canvas from a few hours ago

I can't help thinking of the weather. Green nature in conflict with white snow, a little yellow sunshine, and some blue rain.

same size canvas as the green oil above canvas with blues lots of different versions of blue.. and white --- then a smudge of brown.. there was mixed in but now looking at it I regret using the brown in there it is not what I was looking for .. sorta stains that part of the oil.

I finally got back to my story last night, I added a new beginning to the prologue and changed some stuff in the first chapter. After playing the Last of Us Part II, and watching The Walking Dead, I'm thinking of getting rid of the fantasy elements and turning it into something a bit more grounded. I was having trouble deciding how I want to deal with things like magic, and working with some of the rules I had originally set up with the different supernatural races.

ok so thursday I performed live on twitch and the feed was grabbed and broadcasted as well by a twitch person hosting a live open mic event out of england... so yeah for about a half an hour I performed and about 12 or so people watched me mostly from england... love the accent--- there was 6 of us that performed the 30 minutes.. this is my performance I recorded it and uploaded it to youtube for ease of video use.

I re-wrote the ending of my latest Taron & Winúŋna story. The original ending was pretty bleak all around, which I really liked at the time, but after a while, I thought the story shouldn't end as such a full-blown downer. And then I noticed that I had forgotten a minor element, and considering that, the original ending didn't actually make sense. So, the new ending is a mixture of the bleak ending for some characters, and a more happy/hopeful ending for other characters.

Sometimes the bleak way makes a better story. I'm having more fun with my ongoing King's Heir project once I killed off one of the good guys.

Not that the other characters he was close to are enjoying this development, but it gives me more to work with.

Once again, I have written something that grabbed ahold of me in the middle of the night and REFUSED to let go. Pushed images into my head and would not let me SLEEP. Feels like an intro, or a trailer. (As always, I fit myself in somewhere.)

First the story. Then the inspiration.
***********************************************

They were there, then. They had heard about the War, the Second War in Heaven, more bloody than the First. They had seen the ‘falling stars,’ too numerous to count, screaming as they fell. And still, they had not believed.

And now they were there.

The tall, fair man, small horns on his head, burnt, leathery wings masquerading as a dusty black coat. Forever stealing glances at his right hand, stained red with blood an eon ago.

“Hate all you’ve become...”

The woman, half hidden in the folds of her cloak, her hood drawn down, bathing half her face in shadow. Her jawline porcelain perfection, her lips TOO blood red, one canine protruding. Beauty in the dark, until a gust of wind revealed briefly the burned ruin of her right side.

“And burn, with the weight of the Sun...”

And last, the short, stocky man. Head bare and bald, bearded, bone wolf totem hung around his neck, double-bladed axe, battle-chipped and worn, tethered to his back.

“And fight, till Terror’s blood runs...”

And before them, a small, small girl, hair red and wispy, eyes wide and weeping like a Keane Child, ... and small, white wings. Cradled in her arms, still clutching his guttering sword, silver light leaking from his form, an Angel.

She looked to them, and spoke, in the small soft voice they had all heard in their minds...

“I am... the ONLY one...”

LAST ANGEL

It's still plenty bleak, I just gave some of the characters a more hopeful ending. And, as I said, the previous ending depended on the characters forgetting about something there is no way they would forget about.

I just realized, as I am trying to put together more of it in my head, how bleak the backstory of what I wrote last night actually is. Heaven has Fallen, God is missing - at best -, angels are all but extinct, and the only known survivor is a scared little “girl”, now under the care of a renegade demon, a vampire, and a werewolf.

I have no idea how to get out of that. I think at least one of them is going to have to die.

I hate when my brain only gives me bits.

You work on it. You've already got quite a few good pieces of the puzzle.

My last Taron & Winúŋna story started out with the image of two rotting corpses tied to poles. I had no idea what the plot was going to be, who the characters were beyond my two main heroes, at some point I noticed that a theme had emergered seemingly by itself, and, as I just said, I changed the ending almost two weeks after finishing the first draft.

So keep at it, more ideas will come of how your pieces will fit together.
