Could we as fan send a open letter to CBS executive to make Star Trek better

I feel like that Star Trek Show runner's need to stay consistent in technology (holographic displays and how impractical they are) and the overall optimistic tone of trek in the 90s. Also trying to stay in continuity (all the tribble stuff in that short trek for example) and the technology of the time period in trek lore. basically i was wondering if us as fans could try to contact Alex Kurtzman and all that stuff to ask them to be a little more consistent in technology and the overall tone of trek of not being dark and negitive. Of it being positive and uplifting. I feel like you can keep a show dark and still have it be good (DS9) but you need to balance it out with positive stuff. Thank you
Who is "us fans," exactly? "Better" is a matter of opinion. You will not find a consensus on the opinions that you have expressed here. Plenty of fans feel that the new Trek shows are just fine, and that they do not need to be "made better."

I don’t know whether this is for real or trolling. But who defines “better”? It’s all subjective, and Trek fans are such a varied bunch there is NO consensus on the best series, the best captain, or even what Star Trek actually is. And yet we can be such an entitled and opinionated bunch!

Discovery and Picard aren’t to everyone’s taste, just as no single Trek series is. Yet they’re doing remarkably well. Star Trek has been successfully reinvented and rejunvenated and in many respects is doing better than it has in a very long time. Furthermore, I know a number of people who aren’t Trek fans but who have really gotten into both Discovery and Picard on Netflix/Amazon prime. Also, it seems the writers are learning and course correcting as they go along, as any decent creator does. They do not need fans dictating to them, because as many have said, try getting the fans to agree on anything in the first place.... what a headache!

You can certainly write one, will it be read? Maybe.. Will it be acted upon? Probably not, maybe 2% chance, and thats if numerous others write in for the same thing.

But if it'll make u feel better, go right ahead. Mail your letter. Maybe once a month.. Worked for Andy Dufresne... :techman:

I see you are new to the site. Welcome. Inconsistency is a proud Star Trek tradition so sit back and enjoy the ride. BTW there is no 'us fans' there is your personal likes and dislikes and there is everyone else, but feel free to write to whoever you want to on your own behalf.. No one represents me, but me.
Thank you

I saw an interview with Karen Allen once. She was talking about making Animal House.

She said that director John Landis, when doing another take of a scene, would say "Be Funnier!!" She wasn't sure what to do with that.

That's what this reminds me of.

Dear CBS,

I think you're doing a bang-up job with Discovery and Picard. Take into account anyone who sounds reasonable but don't feel obligated to them and DON'T take into account anyone who sounds unreasonable. The unreasonable won't like what you give them anyway. If they think they can get you to cater to their whims, they'll keep pushing back the goalposts to see how far you'll bend over for them. Don't do it.

Sincerely,

Roland Khorshidianzadeh, a.k.a. "Lord Garth"
