Collider: "After talking to Bryan Fuller tonight about Star Trek I'm so so so angry at CBS..."

Yeah, but he's the guy who wrote Fair Haven and Spirit Folk. And Fury. And Friendship One.

And Empok Nor and Darkness and Light, two of the worst DS9 episodes.

He wrote a handful of good episodes too, but I'm not sad that the person who loved holodeck malfunctions and weird forced horror movie aesthetics isn't in control of the future of Star Trek.
Sad that he hasn't worked since then.

I think there's more to it than just a simple scheduling issue. The editor-in-chief of Collider wouldn't be "so so so angry at CBS" because Fuller had too much on his hands.

It's indirect hearsay. Recent statements from Fuller continue to push the scheduling-only issue. I'm not saying there wasn't a creative dispute, there may very well have been, but we haven't had a good enough insider source to back that up.

At this point I wish Netflix was 100% in charge of the show, they are paying the bill basically and who knows maybe that includes some creative control but I don't trust CBS execs one bit. I would rather have a 100% Netflix original Star Trek show for the next 5 years at 13 episodes per season.

Netflix has no ties to the show, other than being a distributor in territories outside the US. It's a CBS production, and will be shown on CBS All Access.

I am aware of that but since Netflix has basically covered the bill to produce the show so they can air it worldwide the day after CBS All Access, I was hoping they might have more influence. Like I said, I would feel better if Netflix was in charge of everything based off their originals to date but I am aware that's not the case.

CBS is the ones paying the bills and providing the budget to produce the show. The Netflix sale is the same thing as studios selling the TV rights for movies to air on networks. They've helped get the show "in the black," as financial advisers would say, but ultimately have no say in how the product is made.

Maybe the point (which I'm not necessarily saying) is that Fuller's work elsewhere has been very, very good, but Trek is not his forte....?
Hannibal was 3 seasons....Dead Like Me & Pushing Daisies were both 2 seasons..... I enjoyed each, but has he had a really HUGE success? 2 or 3 seasons is good but none of them were huge in ratings.

Maybe not huge successes rating wises, but critical acclaim. And Kristin Chenoweth won an Emmy for Pushing Daisies.

As far as Fuller being attached or not is concerned, as long as the new show runner(s) do a decent job of it, i have no problem since Fuller was juggling another show, what i am worried about is what changes CBS is ennacting without him as the showrunner. Some of the promises Fuller made, making it really "all-inclusive" including having a prominent LGBT character, may be changed by CBS. they have some of the lowest grades from GLAAD, which doesn't reassure me for that previous "all inclusive" promise, though some of the casting so far seems really good.

Eh, I'm less pissed about this now.

Shit happens, Edgar Wright was kicked off of Ant-Man, Roddenberry was kicked off of TWoK... they turned out alright.

Fuller was probably never the right fit anyway and he'll put his talents to use better on American Gods anyway.
