Spoilers Clues on Picard show from Picard Countdown comic (possible spoilers)

Nero's entire motivation must now be brought into question. It's nonsensical of him to blame Spock and the Federation for his wife's death when he had literally years of notice to evacuate her, even if only on the Narada.
"I promised the Romulans that I would save their planet."

And then he didn't. And Nero's wife was on Romulus. Was it a deliberate act of the Federation to accidentally arrive just too late to save the central planet of their former enemies? Sounds like something Nero would believe. Humans today believe far more insane things.

This also goes into why the Federation would allow elderly frail ambassador Spock to be the culmination of their years long supernova prevention effort. One can only assume it's a fatal mission, Spock calculated he had 5 years of life left (as seen in Star Trek Beyond), and he volunteered.

However, it's out of character for Spock to promise something he could in no way guarantee, and it only occurred to me how illogical it would be for him to say that (Spock's all about exact probabilities etc.).

All the more bizarre he's suddenly concerned now (to the point of basically a panic attack) just because these primitives happened to have been enslaved by Romulans. That's literally the only difference.
That's not bizarre at all. It's complete different circumstances from the other examples I gave.

It seems to me they were treating the Supernova as any other Supernova as in the radiation we get to them within a few years what they don't know in 2387 is that the Supernova would speed up and be a threat so at this time Romulus may not be in danger for decades but after it explodes and goes Lightspeed ... The danger is real in short time with Spock saying yep well help but Vulcan drags its feet ad hes late.
So.. In general.. For now they know this star will blow but think it's just a normal boom. But there surprised by it.

I don't want to see him as a captain in Starfleet because I hope he took what he learned under Picard and Sisko and put it to good use as a reformer of Klingon society as an ambassador with Martok's ear.
Except that NEM ignored his ambassadorship and put him back in Starfleet. So apparently he chose to return to that career.

I really hope Worf is indeed the captain of the enterprise. The fact they did not mention means the enterprise will appear in either issue 2 or 3. Am i the only one that finds it really unusual there has been no mention at all of Beverly.

I thought so too. As a well decorated and experienced medical doctor, I think Beverly would've been on the front line, either went or volunteered to go to Romulus to help with the need of the prospective refugees. There are speculations from some fans that it was her death (along with other things) that contributed to Picard's decision to retire from Starfleet after the supernova.

Unless she shows off in the next comic installment, we can conclude that the writers somehow had forgotten about her, following a pattern that while she was a supposed to be a major TNG-verse character, she has never given any prominent role during TNG run and then during the four movies  :confused:

I want the Enterprise to be a new class of ship, I want it to look evil and menacing, and I want its captain to be a rat bastard who hates Picard and is tasked by Starfleet to track him down.

USS Enterprise-F - a fully manned and equipped Prometheus-class warship, upgraded from the version shown in 'Voyager.' Captained by a descendant of Admiral Satie or Bruce Maddo who had beef w/Picard because he had 'mistreated' their forefathers badly during the 2360s.

It's a big universe........Starfleet has more officers than the bridge crew of the Enterprise.

Going to be a lot of NCC-97000 USS Verity in Star Trek Online now. :)
Speaking of which, that implies that it’s known as a Verity Class vessel here.

They should do a shout out to all good things and show the Enterprise-E with a third nacelle.

I’m dreading what they are going to do with that ship. I still think the season will end with that showing up to stop Picard.

Nah, I think by 2400 it would've been decommissioned or destroyed and be replaced by an Odyseey or Prometheus-class Enterprise-F.

Why? The E was the most advanced ship of the fleet when she was commissioned in 2272. 27 years old by 2399? The 1701 lasted 40 years.

They were pulling out the Excelsior classes, a century old, during the Dominion War.

What do you mean, why? Of course so that PIC producers can have the opportunity to design their very own lettered Enterprise. The -F is taken by licensing and sounds like a failing grade anyway, but an Enterprise-G? Why not?

The 1701 made it to 40 years old because the “refit” was a redesign anyway, and also because the precedent for letting your imagination fly wasn’t that great back then (both TAS and FJ, then TWOK suggested kitbashing, and you can’t bring up the Dominion War because those were mid-background ships, gathered from whatever was available for motion-control shots and translation into LightWave).

The D was also considered the most advanced ship of its time and it was only in service for 8 years before it was destroyed in 'Generations.'

While I cannot predict the directions the 'Picard' writers are going to take, I see a scenario where a number of Starfleet ships, including the-E, got pulled by the supernova during the rescue mission and are destroyed in the process.

I am not claiming it will happen and I hope the E would still be around in 2399/2400, but I view this as a plausible road they might go into. Plus it will be another reason which pushes Picard to retire from Starfleet, as he's certainly fond of the ship.

... captain of the Federation flagship Harry Kim.

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:
Captain Harry or Captain Wesley are the funniest plot-twists I would love to see now :hugegrin::hugegrin:

On a more serious note, I could see Tom Paris as a potential Enterprise-E captain. He's been rehabilitated thanks for his extraordinary performance during the years Voyager was lost. Plus his relationship w/his father has apparently improved after he returned to Alpha Quadrant, so he could now advanced through the ranks more easily w/his father's support.

I also would love to see Robert Duncan McNeill on screen playing Tom. Now that he looks so alike Jonathan Frakes it would be nice to see someone who now looks like Riker as commander of the Enterprise ;);)
