Chuck Renewed

The little show that could just keep on surviving. Is it produced by NBC also hence higher revenues from future DVD sets.

THat's fantastic news. I am so sick of all these cancellation's one after another it has to end.

I quit watching Chuck earlier this season. It used to be one of my faves but it was definitely starting to show its age--I guess NBC is going to run it into the ground.

Well, Chuck has been on for 4 years. It's not like a cancellation would just come out of nowhere.

That said, I am incredibly behind on Chuck. I've only seen the first couple episodes of this current season, and I've heard the rest has been really mediocre.

Hopefully it's just a slump and they'll pick things back up and be awesome again for Season 5!

I'm not particularly a fan of Chuck, but I'm happy to see it renewed, if only because I don't think since Enterprise has there been a show subject to such intense "death watch" activity as Chuck. So now the pundits who seen to enjoy sucking the life out of a show when it loses a couple ratings points or happens to be in the majority of shows that don't attract 25 million viewers get a little bit of egg on their face, which is never a bad thing.

Is it worth catching up on Chuck? I haven't watched since the midseason finale and haven't really felt compelled to go back to it yet...

No idea. I do plan to buy Season 4 on Blu-Ray since I already own the first three. I'm sure it's at least moderately entertaining if nothing else.

Ehhh, if there's absolutely nothing in your line up to watch then yes, but otherwise no, just catch up when the show ends. This show has definitely lost it's stride, I just keep watching to be a completist.

I still really like the show, so I'm glad to hear it's sticking around. But after the last few years I'm hoping they give us an ending next season, because unless it explodes in the numbers, I don't see it coming back again.

Fine with me, but I won't be watching, the show is long since out of steam.

If true, this news is interesting in context with NBC's pilot season. Apparently they are wavering on Wonder Woman, which is now "doubtful." Did the pilot really come in so horrendously bad that NBC would rather renew Chuck?

Do they think WW would get less than Chuck's ratings of 1.4/4? Do they have so little faith in all their pilots that they don't have a schedule full of shows that can beat a rating that would be embarrassing on the CW?

Cmon! Show Adrienne bouncing around in her bodice for an hour and you can get better ratings than a 1.4/4. :rommie:

And remember sports fans, that timeslot for Chuck could have gone to RDM's 17th Precinct, which apparently was so incredibly bad, NBC didn't think it would have gotten SyFy level ratings on a broadcast network. Wow. Just wow.

I hate to admit it, but as much as I love Chuck, I think I would have actually rather gotten to at least see a couple episodes of either of those shows.

Honestly, I thought Chuck's Season 2 finale would have been a perfect ending for the show. But then I also thought that Season 3's ending would have been a perfect ending. And then I thought that Season 3.5 (that goofy little 6-episode arc or whatever it was) was a perfect ending to the show.

One thing I will say about Chuck...when it thinks it's going to end, it really steps up the storytelling.

Chuck is a OK show, I would let a few episodes build up on my DVR and then spend a Sunday afternoon watching 2 or 3 episodes in a row. Somehow I don't see Chuck making it too much longer unless the stories get better.

After being disappointed in the first half of this season, I've been moderately impressed with the second half - not as much so as in season 2 or 3, but more than enough to be happy that there will be another year. There's been much talk about another "game-changing" twist at the end of the season finale, so it remains to be seen what the showrunners have in store for next season. I'm cautiously optimistic that it will be worthwhile.
