Chris Pine as Green Lantern? Yes!

Hal Jordan: Are you afraid or aren't you?
Kilowog: I will not allow you to lecture ME!
Hal Jordan: Then why don't you stop me?

(Kilowog beats Hal senseless.)

Hal Jordan was a great man. But that was another life!

Dammit, now I need to go watch that trailer again.

More colorful metaphors? :)

I could see Chris Pine working quite well for Hal. I find it a little weird if they're primarily basing it on his Star Trek performance but maybe that's good news all the way around. (And I enjoy the suggestion of Maggie Grace for Carol Ferris, in fact.)

And put me down for a double-meh with cheese and a side of fries on that Singer rumor.

I think Pine is a good choice, he looks Hal Jordan to me. Plus, it may be smart move a la Harrison Ford where he was big as Han Solo and big as Indy. In a way it opens the actor up because people stopped calling him just Han Solo after Raiders. Unlike Mark Hamil who is still only referenced by his one big role.

Plus, if ST and Lantern are successes, he can work in a lead in some romantic comedy and voila he's a movie star!

Chris Pine would certainly be a better choice than some of the other names bandied about. I've heard Warners and Campbell are in talks with Sam Worthington.

Yeah, the thing that strikes me is that none of these names are really that good (Pine, Worthington, Yelchin, Hirsch). I mean, if these are the ones WB first considered, what does that mean when they finally do get an actor? The only name that really resonated with me was Ryan Gosling, and even he isn't the best candidate out there. I think of all the names thrown about, like I said, Pine is probably the best choice, but he's still unproven and to me a tad too young.

I'd really like to see actors being considered who are above the age of 30 (heck, I'll even take 25, since Christopher Reeve, Christian Bale, Tobey Maguire, etc were all around that age bracket when they were first cast).

I'm with you on that, Jackson. Why are superheroes all kids these days, even the ones who aren't supposed to be?

To JacksonArcher: Chris Pine is 28. He'd probably be 29 during the production of a GL film if he did get the part. So if you're okay with 25, I don't see why you'd consider Pine too young.

And Bale would've been 30-31 when he was cast as Batman.

To Praetor: My understanding is that Hal Jordan was pretty young when he initially became a Green Lantern. Late 20s or around 30 would be about right.

Well, that makes Pine years older than Reeve, Bale and Maguire. So where's the problem?

This movie focuses on the beginnings of Hal Jordan's career, if the online script reviews are to be believed. Based on the current, excellent Geoff Johns version of the character (again, according to the script reviews) there's no way that Jordan should be over thirty at this point.
