In the Mirror Universe episodes, we've seen several counterparts to "our" characters: Kira, Garak, Sisko, O'Brien, etc. What I'm wondering is, what other characters would you have liked to see in the MU? Here's a few I thought might be interesting:
1.) Mirror Dukat: as a good guy
2.) Mirror Damar: also a good guy
3.) Mirror Winn: Not at all bitchy like regular Winn - wouldn't that be weird?
I am also wondering if anyone wanted to see a mirror version of the Dominion (assuming the discovery of the wormhole at some point)? Maybe in the MU they could a 'good' organization like the Federation and not the evil empire? What would mirror-Vorta or mirro-Jem'Hadar be like I wonder? Mirror-Founders?
Mirror Jake. I've always said that Emperor's New Cloak should have been about a twisting of the rules laid down in Shattered Mirror (that's the only thing I didn't like about the episode, that it killed the idea of a Mirror Jake) to get Mirror Jake in place of Mirror Ezri and use that to:
a) give Jake a S7 ep
b) have an 'evil' Jake and finish of the Ben/Jake stuff they were doing in 'Through the Looking Glass' and 'Shattered Mirror'.
Hey, would have worked better than the Ferengi stuff, imo.
A mirror version of the Dominion would have been decent, but we'd been exploring too much into the MU already without giving the M Dominion screen time.
Having Dukat or Damar as background characters would have been awesome, though.
Ooh, evil Mirror Jake, I like that idea. Especially if we got him instead of Mirror Ezri and the Ferengi crap. Good point about the Mirror Dominion maybe being MU overload ... but hey, wouldn't it be cool to see a mirror Weyoun? Can you imagine?!
Mirror Dukat. THAT would've shut up the fangirls who justified everything "bad boy Dukat" did in the main universe, when they had to see the stark difference between him and an MU Dukat who really had a heart.

It probably wouldn't shut up ALL the fangirls, but it sure would make them look far dumber.
But since we never got to see that...I'll be a Macet fangirl. Too bad we only got to see him in a concept drawing, in a proper uniform, and never onscreen!
Mirror Dukat--in any shape, manner, or form. Good or Bad, I don't care--just GIVE US MIRROR DUKAT!
And Mirror Jake (You'll have to tweak his lineage a bit, of course--much like what seems to have been done with Vic...)--but NOT in place of Mirror Ezri.
No...put those two in a relationship--and have our Jake enter the MU...and undergo a MUCH more serious version of the "what-might-have-been" emotions Quark went through in that ep.
(Hmm...perhaps have M-Jake get killed off...and have our Jake and M-Ezri deal with that...?)
Frankly...something like that would have been MUCH better than that groan-inducing...whatever it was we got.
I'm pretty much against the idea that the Mirror Universe being the complete opposite to the prime universe. The major change in that universe seems tied to how humanity expanded out from Earth, instead of the "we come in peace", they went "give us your stuff or will blow you you"/"we've blown them up, let's take all their stuff!". So I don't see any reason why the Dominion wouldn't be any less anti-solid in the MU. I think they would be pretty much the same and would be taking the glorious order of the Founders to the masses. Ditto for the Borg.
That also means I don't think Dukat should be a good guy in the MU. I think he would love the MU where he can rule over slaves and create his fabricated reality where he sees himself as their harsh but fair benefactor. The only way I'd accept a kind Dukat is if the universe had a fundamentally different Cardassian Union than the one from the prime reality and nothing I've seen of the MU shown the Cardassian Union to be really much different from the TNG created bad guys.
I would have liked to see Martok in the MU, he would have been more Founder Martok like than one-eyed Martok, but really you can't go wrong with a bit extra JGH.

Considering how increasingly silly the MU became on DS9, I think I'd have to say 'nobody' because I didn't really want to see any more of the MU.
I agree with Jono that flipping things around for their own makes no sense and misses the point, if there is no indication what kind of change in the circumstances could have brought this about. DS9 did OK on that account in the beginning, but later on things just got silly. For instance, Bajor is a lot more militaristic and less spiritual in the MU, which can perhaps explain Mirror Kira, but later on we meet Mirror Leeta who is a rebel for no apparent reason (and this is someone who didn't seem too cause-oriented in the prime universe).
A good Mirror Dukat would've been interesting to see, but you'd need a good reason (if the writing had been good, that is) why he was different. Since Cardassians weren't all that different in the MU, there wasn't an obvious reason why Dukat would turn out as a good guy. And the only thing that could be interesting about an evil Mirror Dukat would be to see what kind of relationship he would have with Mirror Kira - but only if it was written better than what we got in current official Trek literature (more about that in the rest of the post)...
He shows up a little in the novella "Saturn's Children" in the Obsidian Alliances book... and basically he's the same, only more one-dimensional and less interesting.
Dukat is supporting Ro in a power struggle between evil Mirror Kira and the new Intendant, evil Mirror Ro.
To make things worse, he apparently has exactly the same kind of relationship with Mirror Kira that canon Dukat had with Kira (although you never see them interacting, Mirror Ro mentions that
he was the lover of Intendant Kira's mother and always wanted to get Nerys into bed, too, but despite sleeping with pretty much everyone else, she for some reason never wanted to sleep with him
, even though it makes no sense at all, since the whole Bajor/Cardassia context is missing in the MU, and since Intendant is a completely different person from Major Kira. That's really the most perfect example of lazy, boring and shallow writing of the Mirror Universe. It's stupid to make things completely opposite for their own sake and without any explanation, but it's even worse (and less fun) to make them the same even though they should be different.
^ That's a funny idea suitable for the ludicrousness of what MU became in DS9 in season 7, but seriously speaking, the Dominion shouldn't be any different in the MU. As pointed out in this thread, why would they fear and hate solids less because of the existence of Terran Empire? It can only be the other way round.
In the MU, maybe the Changelings never got the chance to create an empire; maybe they are still hunted and persecuted by the solids like they were in the main universe, which is what prompted them to form the Dominion in the first place. They could still be innocent victims in the MU. Maybe the Vorta evolved naturally instead of being genetically manipulated by the Founders; maybe they're the leaders of the Dominion, maybe they're not. Or maybe there is no Dominion, just a bunch of Gamma Quadrant races that start coming thru the wormhole when/if it appears in the MU. The possibilities are endless. But I do kind of see the point about the Dominion/Gamma Quadrant into the MU kind of being a bit much. There was already a lot to deal with.
^ Well, if the point of divergence in the MU was something that happened on Earth and caused the creation of the Terran Empire... I don't see how that could have affected the Dominion at all, since they were in the Gamma Quadrant.
