Yet another reason I don't rewatch ENT unless it's on the Pluto streaming app. The revelation that it was all Riker's NPC bingewatch ruined the whole thing for me. We do the bingewatching, not them.

Don't worry, These Are the Voyages was the only episode that Riker was playing in the holodeck. You can tell because of Star Trek's rule that there are no external VFX sequences or establishing shots in a holodeck program or dream sequence. If you ever see spaceships from the outside then you can be sure that it's something that's actually happening... unless it's in Lower Decks, which has the holodeck switched to cinematic mode.

Besides, since the characters hadn't changed after 6 years, Riker's holodeck program probably wasn't historically accurate.

I wasn't aware of the holodeck limitations. That's cool to know. Other Trekkies I knew when it showed inferred, along with me, that Riker was present thru the entire series as the ship's cook. "You mean Riker was there the whole time?" "Yeah".

Another important character where my opinion has changed over the years and rewatches.

The U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701.

I have always had a big love and appreciation for her, but it grew by leaps and bounds after the abomination that was the '09 Enterprise appeared. Having such a ghastly thing show up makes you truly appreciate just how gorgeous the TOS Enterprise really is.

She's elegant in her simplicity, and beautiful in her functionality. She commands respect because she's a hard worker, and she always brings her crew home. She brings us to adventures, and inspires us with what she sees.

She'll always be the star of STAR TREK.

rewatching DS9 has made me rethink Odo a bit. he used to be one of my favorite characters. Maybe its because im mired in the Weirdness that is DS9 Season One, but he comes off as extremely unfavorable, with his own agenda. he knows Quark is corrupt, knows most of his dirty deeds and even probably knows about his stolen security creds, but its useful to him so he can lean on him whenever he wants for information, even access to Quark's bar. he seems to operate as a power outside of both Bajor and the Federation and will threaten to quit at the slightest offense to his pride.

He gets better later, but season 1 Odo is just a dirty cop. Between him, Quark, O'brien's ceaseless suffering, and Bashir's sexual harassment DS9 would have been a hellish assignment or place to live.

I think that if Dax had really wanted Bashir to stop, he would have stopped. But since she had been a young man once, was flattered by the attention, and might even have been (a little) interested in him... she let it pass.
