Making threads awkward is Guy's "thing".
^How about sleeping with random guys on passing planets? The "pond" is the freaking Delta Quadrant!
Chakotay had shown no interest what so ever in Seven before "Endgame".
Even in season 7's "Imperfection", its Janeway that's risking herself to save Seven, and Chakotay who's willing to let her die rather than risk the ship/crew/Delta Flyer/Away team.
"Human Error" was Seven trying to recreate her feelings for Axum. Instead of creating Axum on the Holodeck, she created Chakotay, which did nothing except piss off the EMH. (Who was being {the EMH} quite inappropriate, I should add.)
"Natural Law" just proved to me that these two didn't belong together, but I suppose TPTB felt HE & NL were enough of a warning that we would accept C/7 in the finale and be happy.

You mean the relationship they focussed on for almost two seasons?
You mean the relationship they focussed on for almost two seasons?
I meant the relationship that spent the first season with Trip not trusting T'Pol as far as he could throw a grand piano, which was quite a productive line to pursue, BTW. This is possibly sacrilege (and off topic) but the chemistry between Chakotay and Seven was fine, given they had a day's notice to crank it up. Trip 'n T'Pol were never believable because they were both so frigid (in different ways). How anyone found their contrived, awkward tête-à-tête(s) remotely erotic is beyond me.
They must have woken up ratarsed one morning naked and elected to never speak of it again.
Unless they're dead inside robots?
Why do people not like these two being together?
I mean sure, I can see some issues.
Seven: Snoring is Irrelevant.
Chakotay: So is nagging...
But come on, all relationships have issues. Seven is attractive, and I would guess there are some women out there who think Chakotay is as well. So whats wrong?
I cannot describe Seven and Chakotay's retarded, awkward, poorly concieved, intelligence-insulting, not-believable-in-the-slightest, character-destroying, credibility-ruining relationship without using deeply unpleasent terms involving coat hangers and back alleys, so I'll just say that it was the single worst story in the history of Star Trek.
What were they thinking?
Seven is an emotional adolescent and Chakotay is 20 years older than her. It was creepy.
There's also the small problem of Chakotay spending three years wanting to shove Seven out an airlock.
People change, but we weren't really shown that change. They were never seen growing fond of one another.
And, anyway, Gaith's right - Seven just wasn't emotionally ready for a man of Chakotay's age and experience. It felt off-balance. Putting my preference for a J/C relationship aside, the age issue was also just too much for me to handle.
Chak's an earthy guy who's seen and felt much, and is clearly attracted to strong, confident women. He should have had no interest in the emotionally stunted woman-child that Seven remained by the end of the series - and indeed, right up to the end, he didn't.
Seven should have ended up canoodling with either Redge or LaForge at the Rikers' wedding.
