Yeah, I haven't seen him post anything Axanar related in a long while. His Tumblr Bio still mentions he designed the ship, but that's about it.

Speaking of games, there was a mod for Sins of a Solar Empire that was development that was inspired by Axanar, but they quietly cancelled it and then reworked it as just another Star Trek mod after the lawsuit.

The mod still has the Ares and some of the other designs in it, and is still subtitled 'The Four Years War'. But there's no mention of Axanar or any of the characters from it in the mod.
Sean is a great guy and learned some hard lessons. Axanar still sells prints and models of the Ares and guess how much the designer gets? I bet you'll only need ONE GUESS!

AxaMonitor is live-tweeting all day today during STLV as we cover The Great Axanar Retreat™ from the convention vendors hall after Alec Peters discovered the Axanar booth was placed directly behind that of Hero Prop owner Tiana Armstrong, whom he sued a couple years ago, and through whom he sold a TOS Enterprise shooting model and failed to pay widow Cathy Hutzel the $94,000 she was owed. More about that here:

Waitaminnit! Waitacottonpickin'minnit! I needs to be legally ejumacated about somethin'!

Alec told this guy "Nobody owns it, so nobody can stop us," and the guy goes, "Well, if you say so..." And continues coding? Seriously? If none of the parties to the lawsuit owns Axanar then how was there any lawsuit at all? And if you say that Axanar is a title and nobody can sue over a title, fine, but in this context the title is referencing a situation that everybody with eyes can see is supposed to be derivative of a property the plaintiffs sure as hell own, so how would Alec 'splain that?? And isn't the real reason nobody can stop Alec from fake-producing a movie because the IP holders chose not to?

My real question is, why didn't that bit of sophistry wave a huge ass red flag in Ken's face and make him run for the hills? Why did it take somebody threatening violence on one of his people to make him bail? If it were me and Alec hit me with that line, I'd be like, "Gee, look at the time! I have to get to the office and start deleting stuff. Nothin' but love for ya. Peace out!"

Or, I dunno...am I overreacting?

Thanks to @carlosp's Axamonitor newsletter, I see that RMB released a WIP of the "Heroes" vignette. Seems like there's more to it then just this 2 minute plus portion, but I find it very... boring.

And Alec can't act his way outta a paper bag. I could never see him carrying an entire film.

That was filmed in 2013ish? And LFIM is trying to pass it off as "new"?

Nothing's really happened yet in "Heroes," so it's hard for me to be critical of anything yet, especially by the standards of fan films. There's no sense yet as to exactly what the vignette will turn out to have been about. Something about heroes obviously, myth vs reality perhaps, but exactly how it will be executed will impact my overall assessment. Color me neutral on the short at this point.

---

Although, I guess you can glean from my take so far that there's nothing here that elevates it above the level of fan films. Very nice visuals and sets, a high-quality fan film, but still a fan film like all the others.

I kind of dip in and out of this stuff so I’m no expert but just look at the list of people who have allegedly done Peters wrong, be it property theft, embezzlement, shoddy direction (?) or harassment.

If it’s all true then Peters is either incredibly unlucky, an extremely poor judge of character or a fucking idiot.

In fairness, New Voyages, while still in production, released the vignette (planned as #2, I think?) "No Win Scenario" in late 2011 after initial photography was shot in 2005!

Through the perseverance of John Carrigan and others (Graham O'Hare and Pony R. Horton, check out the YouTube description), pick up shots were done at later New Voyages episode filming, resulting in an eventual release.

Just saying. A bit of a Starship Exeter "Tressaurian Intersection" situation, but eventually released.

Plus, for "Heroes", how much of the work was done by the New Voyages crew?
