Just had lunch today at our favorite Chinese restaurant and noticed a sign "20% OFF SUSHI". Should I tell Alec??

I am sure he is waiting buy the phone for the call that the new guys wants him to take over for kurtzan.
Actually, I'll bet he's kicking himself thinking (erroneously) - "Man, had I played ball, maybe I could ave had my "Star Trek: AXANAR" series on CBS streaming and been a BIG STAR! maybe, just maybe I WILL get a call now??!!"

"Maybe the new guy will realize how stupid the axanar lawsuit was, cancel the guidelines, let me make the movie and they will distribute it on cbsaa for the world to see".

Yeah, don't hold your breath waiting on that alec. a

Actually one of his supporters actually did suggest the new guy would give axanar $500k to make their money as an apology for sueing them

^^I've got a bad feeling about this.....

:D

Couldn't help myself..... I simply couldn't resist...

I would have made a chewbacca roar instead, but it would have gotten lost in translation.

a special update was promised for yesterday
Seeing as they were saying on the 13th that they were starting filming in 10 days, that would theoretically place them neck-deep in principal photography right about now. Wouldn't be surprised if they simply haven't had time to post an update...

And the bridge still ain't finished.

JONATHAN – Does this mean you’ll be including some bridge scenes in the Axanar films???
ALEC – Maybe.
JONATHAN – Way to commit, Alec!
ALEC – I’m not trying to be evasive. Those production meetings we’ll be having in six weeks really will solidify a lot of our plans.
But the good news is, production meetings in 6 weeks!

and you start shooting in December/January ...
Absolutely, but first ...

I think what we need in order to do so is a good plan.
Hey, better late than never, right? :techman:

Yeah, I think @Rekkart could have made a perfect virtual set of the same bridge in half the time.

Here's a thought: Do filmed dress rehearsals in front of a green screen, and if you can't afford to build real sets, just take the dress rehearsal footage and composite it on a virtual set. That way, if you run out of money for any given set, "fix it in post".

Just a thought...

Maybe not planning was the problem the whole time and he's learned his lesson. ;)

The best and most useful lesson I got in my project planning course (a required class) was: take your longest, most pessimistic idea of your time frame. Then make it more pessimistic. Then multiply it by three. And then you might be right in your time estimate.

Does this mean Kirk and Scotty were onto something with their little joke about multiplying repair estimates by a factor of four in STIII?

/burning question

ALEC – Yes, we do! But until we break down the script and get budgets from each department and decide where we are shooting what, we really don’t know how much we need. We have two big production meetings in conjunction with Axacon when everyone will be here.

LOL! This is a talking-head documentary interspersed with previously made CGI graphics....and Alec needs to have TWO production meetings, plus presumably more "department" level meetings, and then another set of meetings to discuss the department level reports, meetings to discuss the location options, meetings at the locations, and then meetings for pre-production?
It's fairly obvious that Alec thinks being a "Producer" is sitting in a restaurant, talking about something you will never do, and having someone else pick up the tab.

But by having meetings and more meetings he doesn't have to actually film anything.
