Lol - it's seems 'AXACON' isn't its own convention after all - they're 'piggybacking' on an actual Convention: SphinxCon
https://sphinx-con.org/
ALEC – Look, Jonathan, it is what it is. SphinxCon alone is the majority of that ticket cost simply because they’re paying for the hotel facilities, and they’re only expecting a few hundred people. It’s a small con with a very loyal and dedicated fan base. And so is Axanar, by the way. Neither convention is expecting a huge turnout, and so the ticket prices run a little higher simply to cover the base costs of having a place to hold the event for three days.

So, Lol - seems Alec isn't content with just a partyroom for his 5 or so remaining followers. he's charging $25 extra for the privilege of listening to him talk about how CBS/Paramount are e'evil' for questioning how he raised $2.5 Million using the Star Trek IP without a license; and then somehow explaining how after 2.5 million he has nothing left to actually MAKE Axanar in any form and needs more money to produce 2 15 minute vignettes where he's not even sure yet if he'll use the Bridge set he spent time first building, then moving from L.A. to Atlanta.

What I find hilarious is how he touts that now they have accountants watching their finances. You know that old saying about closing the barn door after the horses got out? This is like closing the barn door after the horses got out and they all broke legs running away and had to be put down and were sent to the dog food factory and are now in cans of Alpo all over the country.

I'm just sayin' it's a bit late for that shit, Alec.

I love how they just have to attack Carlos in almost every single interview they do. Maybe he wouldn't be quite as motivated to go after Alec as much, if Alec didn't go after him. It kind of reminds a bit of the situation we're in right now with Trump and the media.

Does this mean Kirk and Scotty were onto something with their little joke about multiplying repair estimates by a factor of four in STIII?
I'm a software engineer, and I can tell you that it's absolutely true, at least for software planning.

I get what you're saying, but having already read the article they're citing, I can sorta understand where they're coming from, even if I don't necessarily agree.

Makes me wonder if Axanar supporters think like this:

I have a hard time holding a grudge against anyone (except the ex) mainly because I have better things to do.
Running factories and crews there is always that one person which you either have to remove from the equation or impose rules on everyone else just because one brain is wired to believe that if there isn't a rule against it, then you can do it.
I've been in the shoes CBS was put in and I got to tell you I would have done differently. The rule of thumb is/was you don't make a profit off the holders IP, you don't even pretend to, in any way shape or form. It's a good rule and with a little common sense it works.
It's fans that has kept Star trek alive for half a century and some of these fans actually express their love in the form of fan films, God bless them one and all.
These people need rules? You tell me but none that I've ever met. Most simply spend a lot of time and effort creating their vision of Star Trek and now that's bad if it's in a 20 minute format?
I can't confirm it but I read where Studio 9 got a C & D if so why? Are the rules expanding? If so is there something new we should all be concerned about?
Hopefully not.

Yeah it is like "I hate this guy who keeps going after me so I'll talk about him in every post I make"

For the record...

accounting and taxes are a year by year type of thing. The post only refers to 2017. Wonder what taxes were filed, paid / not paid for all of the prior years?

No one really wants to 'clean up the taxes' (CA, IRS, probably GA, payroll...) unless there has been a problem. Wonder what the problem is?

Call the IRS.

I thought they had independent accountants before it all exploded... so nothing new.
