I think it's at least possible that the Axanar-Continues feud had at least something to do with NZ Studios refusing to allow Lane or Peters to film on their sets, as they don't seem to be booked at the moment (the only WIP project isn't slated premiere until 'Fall' which is way more time than anyone serious about a 'guidelines compliant' short would need), however I think it's unlikely that Mignogna 'told' NZ Studios to refuse Lane, but rather Lane's proposal conflicted with at least one NZ Studios guidelines:

We ask for the following things from all fans wishing to use our sets for filming:

  1. Your pledge (in writing or email) that you will adhere to the CBS/Paramount guidelines for Star Trek fan films
  2. Your signature on a waiver of liability releasing Neutral Zone Studios from any liability in the event you or any of your personnel are injured in any way while within our facility. All members of your crew will be asked to sign this waiver when they enter the studio
  3. A list in advance of which sets you intend to film on, what filming equipment you intend to bring, and how many people you expect to be present for each day of filming
  4. Proper caution and respect shown for our sets, which must be kept in a usable condition for all fan film shoots, not just yours. You will be responsible for the cost of repair for any damage to the studio caused by your production.
  5. Prompt payment, according to our schedule (laid out below), of all fees required for the use of our facilities prior to your filming date.
  6. The following acknowledgement in your closing credits:

(1) definately explains any ban Peters might have, and while I don't know the specifics of Lane's project, it might be a problem there, (5) could be an issue with either and I'm not entirely convinced that Peters at least would agree to (6).

Exactly! The truth is it's easy to blame Vic for everything that goes wrong but this is pure spin on Alecs part; there is much more to the story. If I were the owner of NZ studios I would have serious reservations about getting involved with ANYTHING that LFIM was associated with based on his reputation and history with people whom he has worked with. I know I would never work on a project he was involved in.

#2 is problematic if a production doesn't have insurance.

This is a very important thing to point out. Lane is following in the fine Alec Peters tradition of boosting before his roosters come home to roast... I mean roost.

Sorry about the metaphors... I was overtaking by my Bones impression.

Lane has a few problems in his fundraising plans.

1. As he himself has said, fan films these days are just not really raising $20k anymore.
2. His association with Peters is going to turn off some donors
3. He's fishing in the same well of donors that are already paying $2k/month for Ares Studios
4. He's fishing in the same well of donors that know they are going to be asked to contribute to Axnar-lite soon.

Part 2 : Oh no... Here we go again... 346512 Subtitles & counting... Collect them all...

Peters just can't keep from causing drama for 5 mins can he ?

Still 30 Days... Where's the movie Alac ?

Yeah, I love how he just seems to be automatically assuming he's going to be getting the money he needs from his crowd funding.

Even alec seems to be assuming he's going to get the $200k-$300k he thinks he'll need for axanar-lite.

I'm not sure what delusional world they live int.
The world were people just throw money at them and they can use Star Trek no matter what. I mean, I don't have any other explanation.

We shall see. In the meantime, yeah, I don't know who thinks 6 figures will be fundraised for anything -- even assuming the Guidelines didn't exist and we were back to Crowdfund City, USA. Donors can and do get tired of pitches, particularly when the campaign runner has a history of not delivering, or of delivering s..l..o..w..l..y.

Sounds like Lane is going to bore people in his pitch. Has a 13 minute pitch video planned for his 10 minute film.

It will be interesting to see how much Lane is able to raise and how much his association with Alec is going help and/or hurt him.
Wait, so are you saying his pitch video is going to be longer than the actual short?

I'm confused. He says he wants Interlude to be completely separate from Axanar, but yet he keeps talking about how it's set in the Axanar Universe, he's got Alec in it as Garth, and he's using Alec's set for some filming. All of that makes it pretty damn far from being separate from Axanar.
