Castle season 8 discussion thread - spoilers

Jesus, ABC... stick a fork in it, already.
I wish they'd just ended it with them getting married and maybe him becoming a private eye with help from his daughter.
The amnesia plot, the Kate lying to run an off-book investigation so there can be yet another excuse for them not to trust each other and question their relationship, the lame reveal of what actually happened, all of it was a complete waste of time and beyond boring.
Now what? They kill Beckett out of spite just so they can squeeze one more crap season out where Castle will be all angsty? The show is already weak with Beckett being promoted and isolated from Castle. Removing her completely also removes any point to watching.
It would be like watching Moonlighting with Maddie Hayes trying to carry the show largely solo after David (Willis) wanted to bail for a movie career. Oh wait, that happened. I did that. It sucked and the show cratered soon after. And these fools want to remove one half of the lead pair entirely? I'm out.

I think 8 years is a good run. Story-wise it's too long, I'd say.

So stupid, no one had any idea what to do with the show! I wish they had her run for Senate this season and end the show in May with her being pregnant with the first of the three children the guy from the future told them.

I don't care though. I didn't watch last night, and I'm probably done for good--like I should've been three years ago. I don't care how the season ends.
I loved Castle up until the end of season 6. I haven't seen any of seasons 7 and 8, but from what I've read online (and I know the Castle fanbase can get really scrappy), it hasn't been pretty. And then they go and fire the friggin' female lead?
....What?! Exactly what is the point of this show without Castle AND Beckett? Aren't they married?
People are saying that Fillion and Katic haven't really been getting along for 2 years or so, and some weird stuff was put into Fillion's contract to stipulate that they work less together. And then today he comes out with a fairly lukewarm statement on her departure...hmm. With the drama over whether she would re-sign for season 8, along with the on-set tension, ABC probably just cut their losses. Some people are blaming Fillion. I'm not sure that he campaigned for her to go, but I can see him not being too broken up about it. Both of them, actually. Katic has probably been "over it" for awhile.
So in that case, just end the show. There is no show without Beckett. What the hell are they gonna do...kill her off in some emotional finale and have Rick going solo in season 9 as a PI with Alexis hunting for her killer? Just end it.

Exactly. Why destroy the show even more for what is rumored to be a 13 episode season next year? ABC is just greedy and wants even more money.
Yes, but they fired the co-star of the show to save money, so clearly the show isn't making enough money anymore.
