Castle - Season 7 discussion and spoilers

BTW, nice of Rick to buy Kate a nice six-shooter, and one for himself. I'm not really sure that out-of-staters are allowed to purchase handguns in Arizona, but most states require at least proof of residence, like a driver's license. And good luck bringing your new handguns into New York City! Especially if you're flying into Newark airport - NJ has NO sense of humor about pistols.

More evidence Castle is in some sort mirror universe.

Delayed start, after suffering thru dancing, limitless promos in the longest commercial break ever, the president's commentary on Furgesson... I gave up, went and did something else, and checked back at 10:15, just before the title card finally appeared. I don't need to have to work that hard for an escapist show.

^^ Yeah, I saw Dancing with the Stars was still going on, so I found something else to do. I hope my DVR recorded the whole show. I still need to watch last week's episode too. Fortunately I have a long weekend to catch up on a lot of things.

In my area (NY WABC) they finally went to Castle, but said it was already in progress, though I was able to follow it. The next day I watched it on Free On Demand and it was only a few minutes that had been missed.

Oh, so the Christmas episode aired. I just watched it.

At this point, I begrudgingly admit that I'm watching this more out of habit than anything else. It's just not Castle anymore... It's Castle in the Old West, Castle in a Parallel Universe, Castle with the Expendables, and now Castle with Sopranos (or insert random mob show here). At least at the end of the last episode they gave us the latest reason Castle and Beckett can't work together anymore (tm) plus Castle keeping something from Beckett or vice versa (tm). At least some of the tacked-on stuff going on with Havi and Lanie is watchable, albeit several years late at this point. I was pretty frustrated by the end of this one and I know from the lack of posts here that I'm probably late to the game.

I really did love this show... I just want it to be over now with some part of dignity left. Is it too late?

The show has been McGinley'd. Literally.
It's over.
They should just stop airing it.
I'm not even bothering with the Christmas episode.

Or just hire some better writers.

The show is boilerplate enough that it could go on forever. The probably is, the current staff is just so tapped-out of ideas.

I don't know if it's true that it could go on forever. The original show runner isn't there anymore, and neither is the spark.

But, the reason I don't think it can go on: there's no story left to tell. At it's heart, one of the reasons it was so successful was the flirtatious and, yes, will they won't they, between Castle and Beckett. We were watching their romance bloom. It's bloomed. They are married.

There's not much story left.

If this was Law And Order, where character wasn't important, and people were literally interchangeable, then, yes, it could go on forever.

Sometimes shows just end because there's a natural end to the story.

Yeah. I saw the ending "twist" coming from a mile away.

Now we wait till next season where we find out trained Army Ranger sniper Javi Esposito didn't get the kill shot....
