Castle - Season 7 discussion and spoilers

I kept waiting for the Fonz to ride by on a pair of water skies and.................oh wait,.....................that's already happened. My bad.

Terrible episode!! The alternate universe was real? Thanks to an Incan medallion?

Come on! Are Castle's crazy theories now going to be right all the time? NO!!

The wedding...glad they did it, awful backdrop. WTF??

Yea that was kind of :wtf:. Total cop out... he had to get hurt to get there... get hurt to get back. Lame.

That's how I feel too. Glad they did it... but the backdrop... :scream: :wtf:

As soon as it went into the dream mode I switch it off.

Sadly, if it had been a dream, I might have been more forgiving. But, they went to great lengths to show that it wasn't.

Now, sure, they could argue later, "no, no, it was really a dream." But then why give us all of those moments that "prove" it wasn't?

Ugh.

I kept waiting for Sarah Michelle Gellar to drive by in a power boat.

:wtf: I don't know which is worse: the green screen or the acting.

^Sarah's a much better actress than that awful show let her be.
If that makes any sense.

A bit improbable to have a sunset over what looks like the ocean on the East Coast!

Having lived on an island off the east coast for a summer it's completely possible. You would just have to be near the tip of long island, southern facing.

^I seem to recall Castle having a beach house in the Hamptons, which is on the eastern tip of Long Island.

Yeah it's very possible to have an east coast sunset depending on sun angles and seasons and such.

And come on, it's Castle season 7, we had a fucking invisibility cloak!

I thought today's episode was hilarious and kept me laughing to the very end. Beckett in black and saving Castle (Yet again) was just great. It was icing on the top.

The episode was much better than I was afraid it would be.

If it was all about art then the show would have ended with last season with a real wedding because there is no where left for the show to go and Castle forgetting where he was was a sure sign of that.

It's Katic saying it's more about art than commerce. That's not so for a network. If something is still financially successful, they will keep going.

Now, though, with her contract up, she can make that choice. That said, if they offer a truck load of money... Then she might make the artful choice of doing another season or two and never having to work again in her life.

Which, she probably doesn't have to now. (Which always makes choosing art easier.)

From the interview:

Well, I think it really depends on…. I don’t think that a show should overstay its welcome.

If you read between the lines it comes off as her knowing that the show is already overstaying its welcome (or it's just me interpreting it that way :p).

However i agree.. money vs art often enough means the artist will choose the money up to a point where they are financially safe and can really make their decisions based on art.

Now since Castle is a very successful show and on the air for quite a while one can assume that the leads are well off (Fillion maybe a bit more than the others) but i doubt it's rich kind of level like leads from the top five shows, the main Big Bang Theory cast for example have scored new contracts that put them in the 300.000 $ per episode range (that's more than 7 million per season for the confirmed next 3 years) - i doubt the Castle pay is that good.

However they won't have to worry about money for a long time and the show put them on the map, especially for everybody besides Nathan Fillion (who still finally got to star in a long running, successful and praised show) so they may base their decision on the artistic side and really call it a day.

No one knows but i somehow get the feeling that even the cast is getting bored with the show and honestly at this point i'd like them to end it while there's still some life left.

As to the episode:

Well, funnier than most and a little bit returning to the greatness of the first 4 seasons yet not reaching them in overall quality.
Stana was amazingly hot though in her all black, corsetted outfit (that costume designer should get a reward for that outfit) and her gunslinging was just so cool.
I also burst out laughing when Castle had his showdown and fumbled the gun.. it's nice to see that he's still not the superhero though it´'d be nice to see him surprise everyone once in a while (remember how he hustled Kate on the gun range in season 1?).

It may be a bit of you interpreting it that way. But, if you want to be cynical, she also might be using it as a negotiation tactic.

Probably not, but what you haven't thrown in is residuals from network repeats, DVDs, and syndication packages from around the world. While not Big Bang money, it's still really good money.

So, she has probably earned more than enough money that she could choose never to work again and lead a pretty comfortable life.

No one knows but i somehow get the feeling that even the cast is getting bored with the show and honestly at this point i'd like them to end it while there's still some life left.

I don't know about the cast, but I am... sigh. Used to love this show.
