They are both in it.
That's one of the reasons I don't care about Doctor Who. Minor reason, maybe, but still. So what if he's the last of his kind? It means nothing to me. It's not a negative exactly, but it's not a positive. It doesn't make me want to watch.
But really, the situation with the Tok'ra is very different because if their species is not dying, then they need to find hosts, and they are inevitably going to run out of willing hosts. Then what happens? Even before then, their Taur'i allies will see what's coming down the line. Do they end a valuable alliance anyway? Would the situation lead to open conflict? Lots of good stuff there.
I have yet to see any Tok'ra character I found very interesting, so in order to create an interesting Tok'ra character, something fundamental needs to change about them. They're too bland and goody two shoes for me.

The next lead character should be female. This is VOY anyway, why fight fate? I liked Lake Bell on Surface, so she gets my vote.
Stargate character - well, I want to see Connor Trinneer as a major character, so I guess it has to be Michael. How Michael can become a main character, I dunno, I guess he regresses to human form and somehow is "tamed." Everyone can be nervous about having a guy on board who could go all Wraithy on em at any time.Hey it's either that or a Replicator or a Goa'uld.
I also want to see Alan Tudyk in something. I know he has some new series this fall, but I'm sure that will be cancelled quickly. He can play any role but the engineer/pilot - too obvious. Maybe he should be an overbearing military bad-ass type, that would be a nice change of pace for him.

Let's be honest here, she's awful in everything.
I liked her during her short run on Boston Legal.
Okay, mostly she was hot, but I have vague recollections of some acting.
Lake Bell's not even hot. Maybe you're thinking of is Camilla Belle, the bad actress who I only watch because she's hot.
I'll give her "decent" on looks. Acting is still trash though.
Face it, no one can beat my casting list. It would be an instant hit with that group. The show could be about nothing and it would still be the best show ever.
