News Captain Pike Has Been Cast

Great choice! I really only know Mount from his work on Hell on Wheels (which I never got through entirely, but I remember he was good in it). And hats off to whoever it was here who suggested Mount for the role months ago! :bolian:

But wont this interfere with him filming the second season of Inhumans? :)
Its looking very unlikely, the viewing numbers were truly terrible.

The Inhumans just aren't as popular in the comics as Shield and the Avengers.

The story was a bit weak as well, Agent Carter had the same problem, nothing wrong with the actors or actresses.

Time to dig this out again. ;)

A new news article has been published at TrekToday:

Anson Mount has been cast in Star Trek: Discovery as Captain Christopher Pike. In the original series, Pike was portrayed by Jeffrey...

Not super familiar with him but he does look similar to the original actor, at least to my eyes.
Cool with me. I look forward to season 2.

This is the earliest call that I can find. Prophetic award goes to...

Fuck..... Just when I thought I was done with this show, and this board.

Credit where credit is due to the STD team and CBS, Anson Mount is great casting for Captain Pike.

I can't envision another actor in the role.

No secret Pike is one of my favourite Star Trek characters. He was such a tortured cerebral character in The Cage, I liked that. It was like having Bruce Wayne as Captain of the Enterprise. This character had a lot of potential.

This is a perfect casting choice! I remember seeing that post above how someone thought he should be Pike, and it's perfect!

Seeing him in interviews at Comic Con, he's very personable and in shows he's been in, he'll be able to bring his own take to the role, along with honoring Hunter.

Although Hell on Wheels played very loosely with historic fact (trains are another of my passions), Mount and Meaney were great in that series (along with most of the cast).

In fact, Mount took over the reigns as producer and I believe directed some episodes.

I'm looking forward to seeing him as Pike!

Great choice! He was really good in Hell on Wheels, looking forward to his take on Pike. :bolian:

Can’t we just get another Star Trek show? One where they actually have the lights on?
Well... depending how Season 2 does, I am pretty sure we'll know if another series is green lit sometimes between Season 2 and Season 3. That is, IF there will be Season 3.
