Captain Marvel (2019)

Independence Day had Will Smith's character and a bunch of other USAF characters.

Wasn't his character Marine Aviation?
(There were some other Air Force people though).

ETA - As for other films, possibly the Iron Eagle films though I can't think of that many modern era based films. (Broken Arrow might be another)

Ooops, you're right about Will Smith's character. I haven't watched the movie in ages, so I was just going by memory there.

:)

Just remembered another film with USAF characters as the leads (not exactly modern, but not set in the 40s-60s either) - By Dawns Early Light. I remember thinking it was decent when I first saw it, but it is a long time ago since I last saw it.

Wow, I'm surprised he'd even say that much about a spy photo like that. I guess he must have heard about enough fans freaking out that he decided some damage control was necessary.

I think broad picture is understood - it's a suit that later gets replaced with another suit.

The big issue is that Carol Danvers Captain Marvel suit isn't based on the Kree uniform, so its complete bullshit if that stupid green suit turns out to be a kree uniform, since thats not what they look like. Her Captain marvel suit has one element from the Kree, the star burst symbol on the chest, along with a color scheme taken from Mar-Vell. The rest is original to Carol in the comics. That actually makes sense, since she has no reason to just wear a Kree uniform. 90% of the Kree are huge assholes, she's never been a supporter of the Kree outside of Mar-Vell and one time she was brainwashed by the Kree.

What do you think Mar-Vell's original outfit looked like?

It was the standard white and green, and looked absolutely nothing like his superhero costume or Carol Danvers costume. If by "original" outfit you mean his superhero suit, its not a kree uniform, he's the only kree (outside of his two kids I guess, who were half kree) to wear it or anything resembling it.

But she was originally a supporting character in Mar-Vell's series when he wore a green Kree uniform. So the green Kree uniform does have some significance to her origins as a character.

That's not relevant to anything.Ccarol isn't kree, she didn't wear a kree suit and the kree themselves had absolutely nothing to do with her costume. Trying to tie it into the kree is bullshit, and reeks of "We don't want the hero to have a costume, so its now actually just an official uniform that she recolors" style "realism". its like Zach Snyder is making the damn movie. I'm used to costumes having to get some kind of BS "realistic" explanation, but "its a Kree suit" is not acceptable in this case.

I thought Minn-erva has potential as a villain, but I feel she will just be a random throwaway character instead now.

Hopefully this will calm down those prone to conniption fits (probably not)...

Marvel Artist Assures Fans That Captain Marvel's Costume Will Make Them Happy

"I think it's always funny seeing people's reaction… People are so ready to jump on and to react and make decisions so quickly. would just say I would hope that they would just know from the past that judging too quickly is ... How do I word this? They're going to be happy. I think they're going to be happy.

Park even pointed out how Kevin Feige shared concept art of the character in her proper colors, which should be enough to put any fears to rest about what she might look like.

“I mean, Kevin Feige said it in an interview. We revealed the concept art that I did, myself and other artists did, of Captain Marvel at last year's San Diego Comic-Con, so I mean, I think that alone should hopefully alleviate some of those fears that people have."
