It doesn't seem to have hurt Thor.
I'm not sure I understand why it would be a slap in the face to the character, is she ultra serious all the time in the comics or something?
It seems a bit early to be calling her a blithering idiot joke factory, the article calls her "sassy", which gives me the impression of something more along the lines of Buffy, or Spider-Man more than idiotic comedy.
And I could easily see a slapstick Superman film being a lot of fun if it used a villain like Mr. Mr. Mxyzptlk.
I still don't see the problem, putting humor into a movie is not disrespecting the characters. Is there something about Carol Danvers that prevents her from being able to be funny?Hence, why I used the latest Thor as a comparison. That is a blithering idiot joke factory. I loved the flick, but that would be horrible to waste Marvels Superman/Wonder Woman character like that. She deserves more respect and I would hope you would get Captain America TFA level comedy. That's fine. Not over the top Guardians or Ragnarok... or even Antman.
Since when?Captain Marvel is THE hero in the Marvel universe.
Captain Marvel is THE hero in the Marvel universe.
I thought the same thing. I've always thought it was Captain America and/or Spider-Man. Shows what I know.Since when?![]()
And in news sure to inspire new conniption fits...
'Captain Marvel' Will Be An Action-Comedy Inspired By The Initial Draft of 'Tomb Raider'
Though to be fair that's someone who'd you expect to be in the know. I'm not ready to throw in the towel but I have to admit when I read that it set off some warning lights in my head as well.Either way, this still seems to me like an Kirk55555 level of overreaction, since all we have to go on right now is one comment from the writer.
Would you be happy with slapstick Superman films?
Oooo, another movie you've already seen! Impressive considering they haven't even finished filming! Well done!Wow, well I guess the DCEU wins when it comes to female lead superhero movies. Its weird that the MCU would actively sabotage Captain Marvel, but between this and that shit costume that seems to be what they're doing. I guess the world is not allowed to have a good movie based on any character that has ever been called Captain Marvel.

Well, when it comes to my own opinions I'm right most of the time. Obviously its just my opinion. We live in a world where some people like Batman v Superman and Spider-Man Homecoming, so its totally possibly some people might like a movie that seems to have been made by people with the same level of competence as the people behind Catwoman or Elektra. Actually, thats unfair to Elektra. Her movie may have sucked, but she was decent in the Daredevil Director's Cut. I don't think that the MCU's Captain Marvel will be showing up in a good movie before starring in her own pile of crap. In that respect, Spider-Man is actually the MCUs Elektra now that I think about it, which is weird.

Again, I'm talking Thor slapstick and full on GOTG humor. Not a joke here and there Cap, IM or Spidey humor. There is too much potential for Captain Marvel to be relegated to a comedy with no replay value. With Cap, Iron Man, and potentially Thor going the way of the dodo after IW, Captain Marvel is the perfect character to take up the mantle of top dog in the MCU. If you want The Greatest American Hero, watch Youtube vids.I still don't see the problem, putting humor into a movie is not disrespecting the characters.
