No, I didnt like him at all on TNG. He doesn't get much better in the new frontier, my best moment with Jellico is when he gets punched by Calhoun.

I thought the approach that the writers took with Captain Jellicho was well thought out, and although he did act the jerk, he was a good captain.

Jellico is often not given the credit due. He was a solid, 3 dimentional character, who was skilled, strong willed, and capable. The only thing wrong with him is he wasn't Picard.
People often forget that he made sure to secure Picard's safe release in the end.
The commande crew, especially Riker, were behaving like a bunch of whining babies. At least the rest seemed to calm down and get used to him.

I just rewatched 'Chain of Command' for the first time since my teenage years, and was surprised by how much I liked him (my younger self didn't). I liked his no-nonsense, snappy style of command.

Though I don't see why he needed to ditch Picard's fish.

Your opinons!

In my 22 years in the navy, there are more commanders like Jellico than there are Picard..IMO.

I love Jellico. I wouldn't want him as my CO for sure, but he was a breath of fresh air on a show with a remarkably laid-back crew.

Oh I so agree...the moment Worfy got away with murder (Durass) I knew right then and there that Picard would let his officers do things above the law..and get away with them. Then again, since he himself killed thousands of Federation officers and crew, I guess it is par for the corse.

Total Butt Head and anal, didn't want to listen seemed to have a "MY Way or the Highway" attitude.
Fuck him!

The thing is, though: Jellico succeeded in his mission, whereas Picard failed. Then Jellico helped save Picard. Butthead or not, Jellico was mostly in the right.

Very, very, very true.

Thank God there were just enough commanders in the navy like Picard during the Cuban Crisis of '62, because if there'd been more like Jellico, none of us would be here to debate the question.

You're talking about Riker in this episode, right? 'Cause Riker came off as a whiney bitch who wouldn't follow the orders of his captain.

^Even stranger, by way of JFK's White House recordings, we now do indeed know.

No..we do not. That is just speculation on your part. The fact it happened the way it did is all we need to know that...huh...we will never know what would have happened had it not happened.

Whew...

I back up Robert Scorpio's point about not really knowing much (save for the White House tapes), but I also feel that the situation here was a bit different than the Cuban Missile Crisis. For one thing, the intel on the Cardassian forces was a lot more solid than what both sides had during the missile crisis.
