Building my own star ship

The Starship Tardis (er, Discovery) notwithstanding, I don’t think I realized until now just how much volume a Starfleet turboshaft takes. That’s a lot of otherwise wasted space. :shifty: But hey, nice renders!

Great work! If the horizontal shaft is a little over two lifts wide, then they can pass each other while a car is at its lift door or even moving in the opposite direction. As for wasted space: firstly, facilitating efficient personnel movement around the ship is essential to ship operation; and secondly, most of the ships are bigger in scale, so, there is more space to waste.
