Bruce Greenwood is the new Pike!!!

I have a strong feeling that this film will tie directly into the events of The Menagerie. I wonder if we get to see Pike fried by the Delta rays

Unless what happened to Pike somehow could be tied into the plot of the film, that seems unlikely.

What I do think would have to be addressed, however, is the affection (MINDS OUT OF THE GUTTER -- YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN) Spock must've had for Pike. After all, Trek fans know that Spock ultimately risked his career and life for Pike. He obviously felt very highly about him.

In that light, I'd guess the Spock-Pike relationship in this movie would probably be a rather close one. Maybe not as close as Spock and Kirk became, but similar.

Glad everyone likes this piece of news. I don't even know who this person is...but then I don't watch many new movies.

According to Trekmovie.com, Bruce Greenwood is the new Christopher Pike! Check it out here!
While I have ZERO hopeful expectations for this movie I do think this is a good bit of casting. Indeed if this project had been an actual Star Trek adventure with Pike's crew rather than just what is looking to be more like the Starfleet Academy idea warmed over than Greenwood's casting would be even more welcome news.

Pike/Spock should be more father/son. Kirk/Spock was brother/brother. Canonicity aside, this makes Greenwood's age a definite plus.

He's too goofy looking. What happened to the other guy. I want Pike to be as cool as Kirk. now the new chekov.. after thinking about it, I like him alot. They should just recast, not reboot.

I really like Greenwood. He's done a lot of good character work. I liked him in Double Jeopardy (with Trek alumnus Ashley Judd ), he was JFK in Thirteen Days (a great movie) and he's been in a couple other things that I really liked him in. He's a good actor. He might not be the A-name that a lot of people were looking for, but I think you really need someone who can act and carry his own onscreen and convince you that he's the Captain of the Enterprise. That's Bruce Greenwood.

He's not a man's man like the other guy kinda was but even he was losing his hair. He's too flaky.

When did Pike's exposition to Delta rays occur? After he *relinquished* his command of the Enterprise or is it during his captaincy?

Sometime in the weeks prior to "The Menagerie." Remember, Commodore Mendez said the accident had been causing "subspace chatter for weeks" and Kirk, being out on the frontier and a little out of touch, was unaware of it at first.
