Here you go!Where does this idea that Boba Fett is a popular character come from? Put him in comics or novels, fine but why on earth would the general audience turn up for a film with him as the lead?

I resent being called a Boba Fett fan. That was uncalled for."Boba Fett fans prove that Boba Fett is popular with biased unscientific internet-voting poll". Film at 11.
That being said: 8th is the best he could do? Looks like we need a Chewie or Yoda origins film before him. But if the origins film of the #1 ranked character is doing so swimmingly...

Maybe. Given the numerous factors involved in Solo's performance I would not be quick to judge exactly what Disney is thinking. With Solo fizzling at the box office, I bet Disney is seriously rethinking this one. If an OT character 'origins' movie is tanking, what would make them expect a background character movie would perform any better?
Bound to happen eventually. Might as well be sooner than later.I never thought I'd see the day where a Star Wars movie threatens to do Star Trek Beyond numbers.
Yeah, I do wonder if the movie bombing was due to the behind the scenes drama more than a lack of interest in the title character.Maybe. Given the numerous factors involved in Solo's performance I would not be quick to judge exactly what Disney is thinking.
The behind the scenes drama is, more than likely, completely unknown to the average moviegoer and had no impactYeah, I do wonder if the movie bombing was due to the behind the scenes drama more than a lack of interest in the title character.
It did seem to pop up all over the place, even in mainstream news sources, when Lord and Miller were fired and Howard was brought in.The behind the scenes drama is, more than likely, completely unknown to the average moviegoer and had no impact
There are a large number of factors, and we don't have all those facts. 'Tis the nature of the beast, methinks.Yeah, I do wonder if the movie bombing was due to the behind the scenes drama more than a lack of interest in the title character.
I also saw an article where someone from Disney also mentioned poor marketing, and being to close to TLJ, and Infinity War as other potential reasons.

If it's a good generic movie but poor Star Wars, that's going to be a problem.
Not so far as I have read. I would say TPM fits that description far better than Solo does. And the consensus for "Solo" seems to be so far, "it's a great mindless lightweight action flick but terrible Star Wars" with "good acting, especially by Donald Glover's impression of Billy Dee Williams' Lando and Colt 45 commercials."
Boba Fett is a jackwad.
