I jsut got an email saying it's up again.
^ I checked the website the other day and seemed okay. Checked some of the pages referring to the races. Interesting. And, in the end, I decided on geiing BOTF out and installing on this machine and started playing with it. Sometime in the future, I'll to get involved in a multiplayer game (but not this weekend)

fair question. apart from the gui test i put up for dl then no, i have not provided and solid proof at all that this is still being worked on, apart from my name and my reputation which has been tied into this from the start of course, this will happen, our code guy vanished, and now i am doing it myself.
now i am one of the best modders botf has ever seen (not just blowing myself off here i was the first to get new ships into the origanel) and i am quite simply learning c-script while i work on this, mstrobel has a demo fully working btw of his version st sumpremacy, although the gui needs changeing, add to that what i am working on and then ya there will be a game. i know it`s gone arse over tit, but i will get this done.
i love botf i even still play it sometimes, but the fact is for years ive heard of promise after promise of all these i can make botf2, and i gotta say is im not a computer programmer or anything but the game having a real sequel and i mean actual quality work or professionally made, will never happen, and i dont see why ppl bother making all these promises of a sequel, well i wont hold my breath haha, the most ive ever done is tinkered with the models in the 3d battle part of the game, and i know u can make the ships and bases look better, aside from that and other minor changes the game is the way it will always be.
b.t.w, i and probably alot of other ppl like the game cause of how addictive and fun it is to play, aside from the sad slowdowns and graphics that is the part of the game we all enjoyed, so anybody making a botf2, even a fan, will make changes that not everyone will like, im happy stickin to the original botf, and for fun using the many game modding programs like building editor and ship editor to keep the game more challenging or interesting :P
Forgive me for being blunt but your being a wanker Doherty. There is ONE man working on this but he's taken ideas from EVERYONE who enjoys botf and is signed up to HIS BOTF 2 forum! (and also his botf forum).
Unlike botf this game will be highly modable (not just using editors but adding ships etc as well) and quite enjoyable. BOTF is addictive but its so limited for modding properly (eg adding new ships, changing the AI etc) that i uninstalled it...
Give the guy a fucking chance. People like you making comments like that will dishearten him and it really is not fair on the guy.
The guy knows his way around programing languages and his staff know their way around model programs, sure not quite profesional but as close as its gonna damn well get

A degree of scepticism is certainly fair enough. There have been so many projects on the Internet that have made all sorts of promises and built up the hopes of many people without ever amounting to anything - some because they fell by the wayside, and some because they never were anything more than hot air to begin with. Hell, look at the Dragonlance mod for Neverwinter Nights as just one example.
I'm sure it would be frustrating to be the person genuinely working on a project and having to deal with all sorts of negative comments, but at the same time it's hard not to express some scepticism in the absence of any concrete proof the project actually exists.

he was not doing anything wrong, he has the right to question what is being done.
