I thought Obi-wan was only about 10 years older. Anakin looks about 8 or 9 in TPM and Obi-wan I would put at 18-19 given his youthful appearance and his status as a padawan. I know Ewan was older than that, but I don't think Obi-wan was supposed to be.

ETA: Well, Wookieepedia has Obi-wan as 15 years older than Anakin. It also puts Anakin's death at 4 years after Obi-wan's so at the time's of their respective deaths Obi-wan only has 11 years on Anakin.

^ Maybe a person's Force ghost can appear as however they want to. Anakin wants to be remembered as a young man, so that's what his ghost looks like. Obi-Wan and Yoda are OK with looking older, so there they go.

I think if Obi-Wan was Qui-Gon's age, and Anakin was Obi-Wan's age in TPM then their ages would have more accurately measured up in the OT.

Darth mauls death takes the cake for me. Most well trained sith there is done in by a simple flip that he saw coming a mile away.

I know. I mean Darth Maul had to be defeated to progress the story but they could have been kinder to Ray Park, who was so elegant throughout that fight sequence.

Maybe the Force punished Yoda and Obi-Wan for going into hiding and letting things get so shitty for so long (and of course for the oodles of lies they told ) and made them stay crotchety for all of time. And on the flip side, it rewarded Anakin for fixing things by giving him back his youthful body.

Perhaps, but hey, they're only human. (Well except for Yoda of course.) A touch of vanity is understandable and unavoidable. Otherwise people wouldn't shower, wear clean clothes, etc.

I agree. Aside from the oversimplified "kids want to watch other kids be the hero" what was the rationale for meeting Anakin as a kid? I don't see Lucas making that mistake. He is after all the man whose empire was largely built on the merchandising of movies in which the youngest character is 19.

showering and clean clothes is more than just vanity, proper hygiene is important for health. If you don't bathe or change clothes, you'll have bigger problems than a blow to your vanity.

I don't get the popularity either, he's basically a halloween costume with a neat lightsaber and some cool moves.

It's probably the Boba Fett-type "looks cool and mysterious" thing.

Dooku is interesting, but I don't think he is cool. He is not badass like Vader or Maul.

Maul is just cool because of the combination of horns, tattoos and the double-bladed lightsaber.

Which means he'll end up overplayed and whatever cool factor he had left (not accounting for going out like a punk) will be watered down into eye-rolling moments of "Really? You're really going this way with the character?"
