Biggest Star Wars Facepalm

What about a Darth Maul that separates into two halves? It's a Lego; you can just snap him back together!!!

New from Lego: Return Of The Jedi Funeral Pyre Action Set. A New Hope Jawa / Stormtrooper Encounter

New From Hasbro: Star Wars Episode III: Mustafar Dual Anakin - with realistic lava-immolation action! (Butane lighter not included)

They actually made at least two action figures like that. A magnet connects the two halves. I know, because I have them in a box somewhere.

How about the Lego "Tusken Raider Massacre" *ahem* "Tusken Raider Encounter" playset?? That's gotta be a merchandising facepalm of the first magnitude.
Next thing you know there'll be a Lego Death Star.

Found this one while researching some stuff for a friend.

EU One: Tantive IV or Not?

The CR70 corvette was created as a way to explain the differences between the Tantive IV as it appeared in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith as opposed to Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and other previous appearances. However, the Tantive IV's appearance in Revenge of the Sith was later retconned in the 2010 Star Wars Blueprints: Rebel Edition to be the Sundered Heart. Leland Chee confirmed this as a retcon, citing the difficulty of explaining the differences in appearance between the films.

How hard is it to explain, really? 20 years pass, the ship gets a retrofit. See, no need to over think a simple thing. Which isn't a issue for anyone but the core fans, seeing as the average audience member is going to think "Hey that's Leia's ship from the first movie!"

I don't think it was ever mentioned as the Tantive IV. It doesn't make sense that it has to be.

Well, they went to a lot of trouble to make the corridors look exactly like those on Leia's "blockade runner" (or seemingly so), right at the spot where they're getting ready to connect up with Episode IV. And the ship does generally resemble it from the outside.

Yippee!!!

Beat me to it. Them jumping through hoops to explain the differences away is just over thinking things.

Not in the film ( though it wasn't called the Tantive IV in the ANH film either ), but it was called that in the ROTS novel. The script only calls it "Alderaan Starcruiser" or "Bail Organa's Starcruiser".

If you compare them with the ANH corridors, they aren't exact. The 1970s set is better.

I'm not surprised that they aren't exactly the same. That's why I qualified my remarks to say it was seemingly so, because I really do believe we were supposed to think, "Ah, this is Princess Leia's ship." Otherwise, why make them look that close in the first place?
