Big Brother 20

As a cyber security engineer, I'm perfectly suited to win a word game that's loosely themed around technology.
I didn't see that part. Was it a game that most people could have done reasonably well at? I think some folks tend to overestimate how technologically "plugged in" most people are.

For instance, I don't own a cell phone, let alone a smart phone. My phone isn't that smart, but it is capable of staying attached to the wall and not getting lost or running low on battery power.

Sadly, it's not good at telling the telemarketers and scammers where to go.

Ah, okay. I honestly didn't pay enough attention to be able to claim I saw that competition (my attention was on the computer, and trying to deal with some RL stuff).

Bayleigh got so angry she must have bit her tongue hard and started visibly bleeding through her teeth. Holy crap.

That outburst actually makes me more sympathetic toward Bayleigh. Makes me think that being treated like she's worthless is something she's struggled with in the past, so it's more understandable that feeling at all like that sets her off.

Unfortunately makes her a bad player though.

Edit after seeing eviction:
And on the way out she said "I'm no longer a big scary black lady". Then to Julie "They already expect me to be crazy". This paints a picture of having tender emotions triggered, then afterward judging herself for doing so in the light how black people are perceived. And of course Brett is the only one whose goodbye message had no class.

My current ranking in terms of likelihood to win, spoiler marked because it will reveal result of ep:

1. Sam
I was thinking during this veto, she's the only one in the house who's definitely not going to be nominated no matter who wins. She has managed to be a strong presence in the house without being targeted by anyone.
2. Scottie
Again. Ian. Steve. History repeats itself.
3. Tyler
Had him #1 before, but after becoming center of attention I knock him down to #3. He might go home this week. But if he can survive the immediate future I think he still has a very strong chance, because he is the smartest social player in the house and can win comps.
4. JC
One player with big upsides and downsides. His personality quirks are just so darn charming. And he's smart and nobody's target.
5/6. Kacey/Angela
The two most neutral players in the game. They seem generally competent, no strong positives or negatives. And happen to be in the majority alliance with tons of bigger targets than them.
7. Haleigh
She's only ranked low because she made herself a target and is also the minority alliance and also won HoH this week. She's smart enough to salvage her situation but she's got a very narrow path.
8. Brett
Ugghhhhh....I strongly doubt he wins, the pompous ass. But he's got the protection of the majority alliance for now, which puts him above the other two.
9. Faysal
Normal, nice guy, so screwed. No game chops. If I meet him IRL ever we will hang out.
10. Rockstar
She has nothing going for her game at all. No social game, no challenge chops, no strategic intelligence, the most expendable member of her shrinking alliance. If I ranked odds to make final two she'd be decently high because she's the one everyone will want to be against because everyone can beat her.

So Bayleigh was evicted? (I missed the Wednesday and Thursday episodes this week).

Good. I'm looking forward to when Brett is evicted.

One of these seasons they're going to pick the houseguests just because their names rhyme.

It's hard to believe, but Brett's pompousness is almost entirely an act. He's trying to go the Dr. Will route - insult your housemates, act like the annoying douchy bro, don't win too many competitions, and stay loyal to your alliance while pretending that you're not in one. It's actually working right now. For the past couple of weeks he has turned off the arrogance and is now much calmer, sweet, and caring when interacting with other houseguests. Haleigh thinks he's great now and refused to nominate him this week because she thinks he's actually on her side. Even Rockstar has come around, said she likes him and has even been spotted hugging him.

I can't stand Sam. She is not playing the game at all, not even a little bit. In fact, she derides anyone who tries to play with strategy, as she thinks it's despicable and that the game should be played personally. She has threatened to quit many times and walks around constantly talking about how much she hates this game, hates being there, hates everyone, etc. It's just so annoying to watch. Her slut-shaming of Kaitlyn and Haleigh doesn't help her case. I can see where she's coming from with Kaitlyn because Kaitlyn had a boyfriend at home, but Haleigh is single and naturally flirty, and did nothing to deserve Sam's ire. Sam made several statements that were even worse on feeds, like when someone else brought up that some of the guys, like Tyler, can be flirty too, and she said "they're men, they can't help themselves." Just yuck.

My favorites right now are Scottie and Haleigh. I like Tyler as well.

One has to wonder if Sam watches the show. I take back my ranking of her as most likely to win, I did not see that side of her since the first week since they didn't really show it.

I can empathize that Sam is from a place where she knows and trusts everyone, where life and morality are straightforward and simple. And I can see how she would be having a miserable time in the game. But treating other people like garbage with a sense of moral superiority, that I can not empathize with.

Have serious contender here for 'Worst player of all time'. Challenging even Andrew.

That 'Privileged' comment was childish.

Another of the truly horrid people out the door. That leaves only Brett.

The controversies section of the Wikipedia page casts her in an even worse light than on the show. Someone who hates anyone who she sees as part of ‘normal culture’.

Yikes. Okay, I am drastically revising my estimation of some of the people.

I don't root for smokers, so Sam is out. I don't root for wastes of oxygen like Brett, so he's out (always was). Is there anyone left on the show who isn't a racist, sexist, misogynist, self-entitled classist jerk? Someone preferably either not in a committed relationship on the outside, or if they are, they haven't betrayed that?

I think most of remaining people are decent. Excluding Brett I don’t hate anyone, and Sam’s the only other one being obnoxious in the house. And JC has major boundary issues.

But between Faysal, Scottie, Haleigh, Tyler, Angela, Kaycee, don’t have any problem with any of them,

According to the Wikipedia article, Angela has been warned by CBS regarding racist comments she made, and that if she continues, there will be consequences.

My God, how did all the intelligence end up in the same side of the house? This hasn't happened since The Brigade.

Faysal is tragically stupid. He's literally a character in a classic tragic play. The guy who makes all the wrong moves out of a tragic character flaw and orchestrates his own destruction. Then he realizes his folly, exactly one moment after it's too late.

Noting right now, there are two people left who have never been on the block, JC and Faysal.

I'm moving Tyler back to my #1 pick to win, but JC is the only other player who seems seriously intelligent this year.

So looks like Scottie's 100% screwed thanks to JC, my current ranking in terms of win probability:

1. Tyler
2. JC
3. Sam (Even with everything, she's SO NEUTRAL and that often leads to victory)
4. Kaycee
5. Brett
6. Haleigh
7. Faysal
8. Angela
9. Scottie

Angela may be cold and heartless, but she was right and Faysal continues to be the stupidest houseguest in Big Brother USA history.
