Big Brother 13: Dynamic Duos (Potential Spoilers)

The next Big Brother twist was accidentally revealed by CBS.com - and promptly pulled. But not before someone got some screen grabs. It looks like...

...America is voting an evicted houseguest back into the game. Or at least, giving a houseguest the opportunity to compete his/her way back into the game. Details can be found at bbdish: http://bbdish.blogspot.com/

It's been done before, but I like seeing the houseguests panic all the same.

Looking forward to the twist, though I'm not surprised. The signs have been pointing to that occurring for a couple of weeks now, even the houseguests (well, at least Daniele and Adam) are beginning to suspect it will happen. In fact I would even venture to say it played a role in why Daniele chose to make a deal with Jeff and Jordan and go for the other couple first - if America's favorite couple leaves, they are very likely to be voted right back in, which wouldn't be good for Daniele.

I think the competing aspect of it will be interesting. If you assume that Dom or Cassi wins the vote, they will be going up against whoever is evicted after Brendan. And really it could be anyone at this point, though many people seem to be going for either Daniele, Rachel, or Kalia. It all depends so much on tonight's HOH win.

I also wonder if they will be competing head to head in a battle ala Survivor's Redemption Island, OR if they will both be thrown into that night's HOH competition, which would be endurance, and whoever stays in the longest (regardless of who wins HOH) is the one going back into the game. I would be kind of sad if America's vote ended up being for nothing though, much like it did in season 9.

Yesterday evening and this morning have been quite emotional for Rachel, as is expected. She flipped out on Daniele yesterday and has been crying in Brendan's arms ever since. This morning she was talking with Shelly and continually threatened to leave the game voluntarily with Brendan tonight. Shelly tried to give her a pep talk, but Rachel was having none of it. She insisted that everyone be a part of her pity party. She said that Big Brother has ruined her life, that she only came back for the money and now regrets it, that she's obviously fucked in the head, and that "I hate myself, so why wouldn't everyone else hate me?" It was quite sad to listen to actually. Shortly after this they all had to go up to the HOH room for the typical Thursday HOH lockdown (while production fixes things up downstairs), and it was awkward, to say the least. Here are some screencaps I took:

Rachel sobbing loudly as everyone else ignores her...

Shelly mouthing "what the fuck?" to Jordan...

By the way, if anyone is interested in knowing more details about the daily happenings in the house, I would be happy to provide them (or more screencaps). I am basically obsessed with watching the live feeds and have nothing better to do with my time. But I'll only do it by request, as I don't want to needlessly bore you guys with too much info.

Haha, that Jordan photo is hilarious. :D

I would read a live feed recap if you do it, but don't write it on my account. I'm fine with just watching the normal episodes generally.

CBS might be putting us through alot of Brenchel because they think we "love to hate them." But we are just sorry for them. Rachel is a basket case and needs psychological help and Brendon is just an asshole. Which is sad because I was rooting for him once she was gone last year.

If we do revive a hamster, I'd vote Cassi back in. If either Brendon/Jordan go this week, they would've had their second shot, no need for a third. Dominic drives me up the wall with his antics and Keith...well it would be funny, but he may go insane. Cassi got rail roaded out by Rachel's petty antics and she deserves another shot.

As for tonight's vote:

Jeff - Brendan
Rachel - Jordan
Adam - Brendan
Shelly - Brendan
Kalia - Brendan
Lawon - Brendan
Porsche - Jordan

I put Porsche as a Jordan vote because let's be honest, no one knows where she is going to end up. Is she really stuck to Rachel? Who knows!

I'm so fucking sick of Rachel's horrible acting and I don't understand why CBS tortures the viewers with that all the time. I really hope Brendon stays gone. I also find this constant touching and kissing and stuff between them disgusting, not to mention the fake crying.

Interestingly, after hearing Julie's little snippet of information on the upcoming twist, the houseguests believe that only the next person voted out may return. They are totally sure that the previous evictees are not involved in the twist...I'm kind of surprised that they haven't realized that's a possibility, especially since a couple of weeks ago they had heard some rumors that Keith was being held in sequester.

I think that the number one target this week will be Rachel, with Jeff going home if Rachel wins the POV. It always feels this way, that the further you get into the game, the more important POV becomes. So, depending on who wins that, expect America's Choice to be competing against Rachel or Jeff. Who wins really depends on the type of competition they play...Rachel is better at quizzes, Jeff is better at strength, and if it's one of those silly skill competitions like the golfing, it's anybody's game. Or the "competition" could be something we've never even seen before, who knows!

Looks like Jeff won POV, which I guess means Rachel is likely getting kicked out, would be fun now if Brendon is allowed to return and has to "battle" Rachel for being allowed back

^I actually don't want to see Rachel and Brendon having to battle it out to come back because Brendon will just throw the competition for her to win. I think that seeing Rachel and Cassi battle it out would be interesting though.

From the various polls I've seen on different fan sites, it seems like Cassi is ahead in the vote, with Dom a close second and Brendon not far behind. I don't understand why so many people are voting for him, I thought we all had an agreement that we can't stand him or Rachel. Keith has no shot at all.

Spoilers about Have/Have-nots and POV below...

Yesterday was an emotional rollercoaster in the house...I think more than half the people there had emotional breakdowns and started crying. The food competition was held and Jeff, Jordan, Rachel, and Shelly were on a team together. They lost and are the Have-Nots for the week. Now, Jordan was a Have-Not last week and did really badly on it...like, people were afraid she was going to pass out because she hadn't eaten anything for days except a couple of pickles. Her stomach can't handle the slop and she can't stand seafood, so everyone is sad for her that she is on slop again. Also, America voted for catfish and coconuts.

I guess there were several catty comments made by Rachel and Daniele in the competition and Jordan got her feelings hurt by someone. After the feeds came back she was in the Have-Not room with Jeff bawling her eyes out and saying she let everyone down by losing and that everyone is just on Dani's side, they have no chance and they will both be going home soon. She was obviously at her breaking point and quite stressed.

Oh, Adam shunned his elf costume that morning too. Later Jeff and Jordan go to Kalia in the HOH room and Kalia basically tells Jeff to his face that he is going to be nominated with Rachel. She gives him a bullshit excuse about nominating him just so he can play in the veto and beat Rachel, but Jeff doesn't buy it. Jordan got super pissed and actually yelled at Kalia, telling her that someone is coming back this week and it will be Rachel or Jeff, so she just made two huge targets on her back. Then Jeff gets mad and tells Kalia that he doesn't buy her bullshit, that he WILL win the POV tomorrow, and that even if he doesn't and is voted out, he will come back and make it his duty to get Kalia out of the game. He said, "you weren't my number one target, and now you are, see you at the veto" and left the room.

The feeds come back after nominations (Jeff and Rachel nominated) and we see Rachel now having a meltdown and threatening to go home again. Jordan is with her, trying to calm her down and give her a pep talk. Rachel continues being Rachel. Meanwhile, up in the HOH room Kalia is bawling to Daniele about how Jeff and Jordan hate her now and the house is so stressful.

Jeff and Jordan were also pissed about the food competition because they told Shelly the answer and apparently she ignored them, and they thought she might have thrown it or something. So they are already in foul moods, then Shelly comes in the room and they are acting weird with her and Jeff asks her what the deal was with food competition and why she didn't give the answer. Shelly gets angry and leaves the room...Jordan goes to find her and she is by herself crying. Jeff comes to apologize to her and she says that she is appalled he would ever think that badly of her that she would throw it. They talk and kind of make up and Jeff assures her the three of them (Jeff, Jordan, Shelly) are together all the way, but Shelly still seems upset.

It was a crazy day.

Backtracking slightly... I'm glad to see Brendon gone and I mean gone because if he ends up back in, CBS will have fixed the vote. The last week should prove to everyone that Rachel is not mentally stable and should be committed. Maybe Big Brother alum Dr. Drew will invite Brenchel to some kind of counseling.

Kalia is about as dense as Dominic. Daniele is playing her for the week. It makes you just want to scream at the TV when they are talking about being such good friends.

It's getting harder and harder to cheer for Jeff. I got really excited when he had the two second conversation in the bed with Jordan about back-dooring Daniele because it actually showed him making a strategic decision. The veterans (minus Daniele) had this entire idea of people playing honorably and no backstabbing. As much as I would love that in real life, in Big Brother, you have to do it, without getting caught, to win.

Spoilers ahead....

So with Jeff coming off with the POV, it'll be down to three choices:

1) Jordan - Does Kalia break her promise and put Jordan up? It seems like a stupid move to piss of Jorff even more if Kalia's target is really Rachel.
2) Porsche - Do you put her up to take a sure vote away from Rachel?
3) Shelly - Kalia has said she doesn't trust her, does she put her up?

But who are we kidding, this is Daniele's choice, not Kalia's.

Speaking of which, I was just watching some episodes of the first season of Big Brother on YouTube, and they used to do a lot more guest interviews and focus on the "social experiment" aspect of it. And lo and behold, who shows up sitting next to Julie to talk about the psychological aspects - Dr. Drew of course. And sadly, he was spewing the same crap that he does today - if someone is upset it must be because they have deep sexual abuse issues, probably involving incest. Ahh he drives me crazy!

Anyway, you guys should watch some of the first season, it is so completely different!

I'm developing a rather intense dislike of Jeff and Jordan. Accusing Shelly of throwing the competition is just ridiculous, why would she listen to someone's wild guess of what's in the drink if that person didn't even taste it? And Jeff's turning out to be just another bully.

I actually really liked them after that discussion they had with Kalia in the HOH just before nominations. Kalia honestly expected them to not mind that Jeff would be nominated, which is kind of crazy. I'm glad they stood up for themselves and didn't just take it lying down. Yeah, accusing Shelly of that was odd, but I chalk that up to it being a really rough day for everyone in the house - that was the day they were all fighting and crying and emotions were just insane. Jeff and Jordan have since apologized to Shelly for thinking that and have moved on, thank goodness.

It's been a bizarre couple of days...here is the lowdown on the strategy that has taken place (there was a lot of it so I'm expecting the CBS version to be much more simplified). Spoilers on the replacement nominee.

I'll start by saying that the CBS episodes have really not been showing enough of Shelly and her strategy. She is solidly aligned with Jeff and Jordan, and by default Rachel, though none of them can really stand her emotional outbursts. Adam is also connected loosely to that alliance. However, Shelly has had the other side of the house believing that she is with them for some time now. She is awesome at getting to know people inside and out, and then using their weaknesses to get her way. She tailors her conversation to whoever she is talking to, telling Rachel and Brendon how they were awesome competitors, Jeff and Jordan how honorable and sweet they are, Kalia how she is a strong independent woman who everyone in the house loves, etc. Exactly what they want to hear so that they all trust her.

Anyway, so yesterday she went to work on Kalia. Shelly wants Porsche gone because she is the only one that Shelly can't get a read on or gain any trust with. So even though the plan has very clearly been to get Rachel out, Kalia and Shelly have this long discussion where Shelly convinces her that she has an awesome plan that involves putting up Porsche and voting her out and making a deal with Rachel, which would appease Jeff, Jordan, Adam, etc. so that everyone would be friends with Kalia again. Kalia is like, "wow, that is an awesome plan!!" and completely buys the whole thing. Porsche is in Kalia's alliance now, so Shelly basically just convinced Kalia to nominate and have voted out her own alliance member. It was masterful. She played on Kalia's desire to be liked by everyone, and to show that she can make big game moves on her own and Dani is not running her HOH.

She runs the plan by Dani, who obviously hates it. Dani eventually talks her out of voting Porsche out, but reluctantly agrees to having Porsche be the replacement nominee, as a pawn. Kalia thinks she has Shelly and Adam's votes, which she doesn't. So if Porsche goes up, she would be voted out over Rachel to Kalia and Dani's surprise. Then, out of the blue, Lawon offers to go up as the pawn. They all talk about the twist this week and because of what Shelly has been planting in Kalia's mind, she is suddenly convinced that whoever leaves this week will definitely be coming back, and with some special power (when in the beginning of the week they felt sure that no one was coming back). So then Lawon offers to even be voted out so that he can immediately come back in with a special power that can help their alliance....yeah. You read that right. He volunteered to be evicted.

However, Kalia, Dani, Porsche, and Lawon want everyone to think that Lawon is just a pawn, so they are continuing to tell Adam and Shelly to vote out Rachel. At the last minute, they are planning to try and convince Adam and Shelly to get rid of Lawon instead, and are trying to think up ways to convince them. Unknown to them, Adam and Shelly (as well as Jeff and Jordan) are voting out Lawon anyway.

Lawon has decided to put on this performance as if he is extremely angry and blindsided by Kalia putting him up. However, Shelly knows that he volunteered to be a pawn, and she was even in the room when Lawon talked about it, but now Lawon is acting in front of her and pretending he didn't know. It is very strange. Shelly of course told everyone else that it was just an act, and now Lawon is mad because everyone knows he volunteered. But, he seems to have forgotten that Shelly knew the plan, and is now blaming Adam for figuring it out and telling everyone.

Makes sense, right? Yeah, I didn't think so either.

So as of right now, it looks like Lawon will be evicted, regardless of what Kalia and Dani want (they still aren't sure if they want Rachel or Lawon to come back in the house). If they decide to get rid of Rachel, they will be shocked when Lawon is voted out. If they want Lawon to be evicted, it will be a unanimous vote. Either way, based on what we've seen, Lawon isn't likely to win whatever this competition is to come back in the house...

The big question on everyone's mind is why the hell he would volunteer to be nominated at all.

Hm, Kalia seems to be coping very badly with being HOH. She should have just listened to Daniele, who although she is obviously looking out for herself primarily, has most interests in common with Kalia at the moment imo. Nominating Rachel and Jeff was the correct move, but the replacement nominee should have probably been Jordan. Kalia is absolutely insane imo if she thinks J/J/R will forgive her next week - clearly they all hold a grudge and if Rachel doesn't leave I think it's almost guaranteed Daniele and Kalia will be nominated next week unless Daniele wins HOH.

She's completely overthinking the situation. All you can do as HOH is nominate people who are a threat to you in the house and try to make good with the people who aren't nominated without coming off as arrogant. Everything else is just smoke up your ass.

I think CBS's editors made a boo-boo here ... They actually let some of their golden boy's homophobia make it to air.

Jeff and Kalia are discussing her nominations. He tells her that was the gayest move anyone could make (or something like that, just remember him saying that was so gay) ... this after his homophobic rant that made it to the streamers ... just how big a douche IS this Jeff guy anyway?

^I think Jeff's homophobic rant was despicable, but I don't remember him using the word "gay" in tonight's episode, or in that conversation he and Jordan had with Kalia (I watched it live as well). I went back and replayed it and I just don't hear that word in there.

I do think the editors made a mistake tonight though, but in regards to basically leaving out all of Shelly's strategy this week. She is the only newbie who really has great strategy and can get in others' minds to plant doubts or ideas. And instead they show her crying and pep talking Rachel, ugh! It is because of her that Kalia didn't put up Adam as a replacement, and that her alliance will be safe and Rachel will not be voted out. Hopefully they show some of that tomorrow night, but I doubt it! Annoying.

^ I agree. If Rachel stays this week, the primary reason (other then fear of the twist) is Shelly's brillant manipulation work. She did not get proper credit for her role in this weeks unexpected events.

I present Kalia: the stupidest HOH in the history of the game.

My prediction for tonight's vote: Lawon out unanimously. The only one you can consider on the fence is Adam, but does he really want to be the one vote hanging out there.

As for who's coming back, my vote for Keith campaign was an abysmal failure. It really is a toss up between the other three. Alot of online polls say Cassi, Dominic was by far the most popular of the four (not in my books however) and CBS may want their golden boy Brendon back in the game. I'll be cheering to see Cassi back in.
