I’m starting to wonder if Lalo is going to just die in a freak accident alone in the desert, or if he already did and it won’t be revealed until late. Either attacked by an animal or breaks his leg and dies of exposure.

Right now all that has to happen to get to the state of BB is for Gus to be satisfied he’s dead, and Jimmy to be told by Kim he’s alive. And it’d also have ironic symmetry with Jimmy’s desert hike.

Kind of like how John Hammond dies in Jurassic Park the book. I approve.

And right on cue, Lalo finally reemerges...in Germany? When he said he knew where to find proof, I never would've thought of Werner's widow. I'm not quite sure what he's after or how the slide rule memento plays into it, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

Meanwhile, back in New Mexico, Kim is very much on the edge, practically petrified at the thought that Lalo might show up in the middle of the night...and yet she still hasn't told Jimmy that he's still alive, even when she had the perfect opportunity to confide in him. I'm curious to see how long she's going to sit on that knowledge and how it'll fester inside of her. I worry it's going to lead to her making an egregious mistake, whether it's with hers and Jimmy's long game against Howard or one of her pro bono cases.

And Howard. As soon as Cliff confronts him, Howard figures out the truth. Or at least part of the truth. He knows Jimmy is behind it all and immediately confronts him in the most Howard way possible. Problem is he blinded by the motivation. But at least he made the right choice in hiring a PI...although I can't help but wonder if Jimmy and Kim anticipate him doing that considering they believe Howard won't see the next big move against him.

On a side note, and this is probably just me, but seeing Howard in his boxing gear, backlit at the boxing ring, with his ridiculously gelled hair, I suddenly saw Roy Batty. Same hair, same shape of the face, almost the same eyes. "Time to die..."

There's something off about Werner's widow. I'm wondering if she's in the game somehow and it's how they managed to get Werner himself in the project.

This episode had me asking a lot of questions from beginning to end. Was Gus hiding something in his future drug making lair?

Yeah. That scene was a bit weird. It might warrant a rewatch.

Pretty sure it was his ankle revolver, which can be seen in the foreground as he leaves.

What I don't get is why.

Perhaps they found something to tie with the BB era, when Walt is down there cooking. Lalo’s body buried in the concrete. Attracting that fly…

Ah... I couldn't see that clearly even though I was watching this in the dark. Gus's behavior is understandably weird. He's expecting something to happen and planning for something really specific to happen by planting that gun? What did he see in the parking lot that shook him up?

It's quite unnerving to see Gus Fring that shaken!

I have no idea what's going on with the gun. Presumably he's planning to lure someone down there and kill them? Maybe he's stashing guns all over the place? I wonder how much he actually trusts Mike?

I'm glad Howard figured it out, or at least he thinks he has. Still not sure why he didn't make it clearer to Cliff Mane what's going on though?

I wonder if Fring's men will assume that the PI following Jimmy is working for Lalo! :cardie:

I wonder what's "coming next" for Howard. Neither Jimmy or Kim seemed unduly concerned that Howard had made them? Maybe that was always part of the plan? I thought the plan was designed not to cause any long lasting harm to Howard?

Well I never expected Lalo to show up in Germany! I really feared for Ziegler's widow, but it looked like Lalo didn't relish the idea of killing her either. I'm guessing the slide rule memento was given to Ziegler by his team. Lalo identified who'd made it from the sticker on the bottom, presumably he'll track the manufacturer down (it looked bespoke) and from them get a name of one of Ziegler's team who will be able to tell him what they were working on.

How did he know to speak to her though?

Not that many Zieglers who does what he does and recently died… Lalo probably could track down his widow easily.

^I'd forgotten that Lalo had some brief dealings with Ziegler. That makes sense now!

    Truly disturbing that notion.

Sheer fucking hubris. He doesn't see how disturbed Cliff is to realize he needs to quell Cliffs concerns.

Damn, I hadn't considered that! A tangled web Howard just stepped into. Makes me worried for him...

I never thought I would say that about him!

Okay, that makes sense now that you've laid out like that. I guess I was expecting something a little more profound.

I could be wrong, it's been known to happen on rare occasions :p

I still can't bring myself to hate Howard.

I use to loathe Howard, back when Chuck was still around. Nowadays, I just feel sorry for him.

It was interesting when Kim said "because you know what happens next", or words to that effect. Only then did I click there wasn't a "Oh, Howard knows!" scene. Everything is proceeding as planned, I guess.

We don't know the full scope of their plan. Howard has no proof - yet. But, Cliff has seen with his own eyes the white powder, the Kettleman's and a sex worker booted out of Howard's car in broad daylight! What's easier to believe - that Howard is using and concocted an outrageous story out of desperation (considering Cliff's own experience with his son), or that Jimmy has orchestrated a ridiculously elaborate deception that defies belief?

Lots of questions. God I love this show.

Well the fact that Cliff just happened to be sat with Kim when "Howard" threw a hooker out of the car, and the fact that the people who flagged Howard's issues were former clients of Jimmy (though I guess Howard doesn't know that.)

Cliff does have first hand experience of how Jimmy operates as well.

It would still feel kind of suspect because in the end who in the world would normally do the things Jimmy and KIm are doing. Especially Kim who is not seen as slick as Jimmy.. Compare that to the physical and visual evidence I don't think I would believe Howard either.

Cliff knows Jimmy is untrustworthy but his experience of Jimmy doesn’t lead him to think he’s capable of such an elaborate long con. The worst things Cliff saw him do were run a commercial and try to get fired. It’s a big leap between that and stealing a car to stage a prostitute fight.

For a second it looked like the wife was going to get killed. Glad they didn’t go there. I wonder what about that slabbed tool made Lalo satisfied.
