Better Call Saul, the TV series

Let’s also appreciate for a second that Nacho’s entire existence was designed around retconning a throwaway line in Saul’s first Breaking Bad appearance to mean something.

A much quieter, less tense episode last night.

Throwing the prostitute out of the car, I admit I laughed pretty hard at that. Saul and Kim are awful ("wicked"?).

Fring's got quite the security set-up.

One thing I wondered about is we can see Kim maybe going back to the light a bit? Meanwhile Saul is persona non grata at the courthouse, sinking deeper...I guess it's a great thing about this show is that even though we know exactly what happens to Saul, we have no idea what happens to Kim.

^About that...yeah. The first thing I thought was that it would have been harder to build all that in a residential area, than under the laundry. The tunnel looked quite nice. But again, I'm not in construction. What do I know?

Or maybe the Germany company developed that subdivision (and others) with similar setups for Fring and other owners of those fast food restaurants we saw in that meeting.

As for Saul, it surely would be harder for Saul to do all of that antics to get his clients out of trouble, as the judges and DAs would be onto him more now...

I think Fring lives in a Tardis. Clearly bigger on the inside than the outside.:) The whole scene of course makes you think if the tracking shot from Goodfellas but it also reminded me of this video of Putin out their.

A quieter episode with some much needed levity after last week. Must admit I didn't know what the fuck was going on with the cyclists and the security set up when we first saw them! I assumed they were watching Saul's house, in the future! Should have twigged sooner.

Love how Kim finally recognised Mike!

Damn, I hadn't realized Kim and Mike had never properly met before (aside from the parking attendancy). I love the reveal that the people that have been trailing Kim and Saul the last couple of episodes were in fact Mike's people (although it is a little odd that they were sloppy enough for Kim to catch on so quickly). Yet another clever misdirection. Right on the heels of Howard's "I'm just getting warmed up" line was just a line to his therapist.

I loved Saul's madcap of a con against Clifford...but the best part was the narcissist asshole who moved the cone! I knew that was coming and Saul's reaction to it made it all the more hilarious.

Also loved the sequence at Gus' home leading to the surveillance team across the way (I figured it was his own team but it was still a fun reveal). I know we've seen Gus' home before (I recognized the kitchen) but I can't remember if it was in this show or in Breaking Bad. I'm thinking it was this show?

But the best part of that sequence was this little gem:

"He's not up to Pollos standards."

Only Giancarlo Esposito can make such a line be filled with so much disdain and sound so sinister at the same time.

Very strong directorial debut from Rhea Seehorn. Lots of good looking shots and I loved how when Howard starts talking about his dream and it switches to Jimmy dressed Howard and at first we think we're seeing the dream.
I loved that segue way, tool. High marks for Rhea Seehorn, both in front and behind the camera.

Recognize her already, damnit, Emmys!

I like the way they had Spooge have a cameo as a guy who seems to generally have it together.

Really shining a light on the effects of four years of meth addiction.

The man who got his head crushed in by an ATM because he called his wife a skank after robbing Skinny Pete, four years ago, was a generally functional human.

Oh, damn. I didn't make that connection.

But then I haven't watched most of Breaking Bad in years so that's less surprising (still planning to wait until this show is over and then do a big marathon of the whole universe).

A very nice touch indeed.

I got a Business as Usual vibe from the whole thing at the courthouse.

I think Jimmy is going to rat, and that's why he thinks Lalo would order his execution.

Absolutely, glad that wasn't just me! There were some really nice shots in that episode.

OMG I had no idea!

That’s straight up continuity porn there. Taking a minor character we only saw as a man at rock bottom due to meth addiction, and giving us a brief glimpse of him as who he was in the early stages of addiction.

I don't know what's more depressing. Seeing that he was a functional human being, or seeing that Wendy has not only been a hooker all along, but has even been working the same crummy motel car park :(
