Encounter:
A bit like 2001: a Space Odysssey, a bit slow and mechanical, but important. Bit boring to a teenage mind set, but a landmark and a template,and we should thank GR for pulling us up by our hair and sharing his thoughts, we might have need of it, someday!
Actually, I think TNG would have been better with an Enemy within type epsisode where Picard eats raw meat and kicks the S**t out of Worf. That would have made some sputter out their popcorn.
