Since they never removed the interim tag, I guess he could probably see it coming. Rumor is that he could still be the manager in 2027.

White Sox will at least be a major market.
MLB has proposed shortening the regular season back to 154 games so that the divisional round can be best-of-7. The No. 1 seed would also get to pick which wild card round winner they want to play.
Everything they've been proposing, of course, is also contingent on the MLBPA accepting a salary cap. So good luck with that.

I have a counter proposal. Go to 154 game season and only have four playoff teams per league.
Even in the scenario, there is more than enough product to satisfy TV viewers.
I could live with that. I just hate the idea of baseball heading in the direction of other sports by having more and more playoff games.
But I grew up in the age of just the rounds of playoffs, i.e. the good ol' days. Yes, that makes me an old man yelling at a cloud.

It blows my mind that college football wants a 24-team playoff and that there are now going to be 78 teams in the college basketball tournament. What is even the point of a regular season anymore?
Not sure I understand this change. Teams would just start using smaller, faster players in the OF.
That's a win-win in my book.
