Apparently umpires have egos at all levels of play. The Women's Professional Baseball League is in its first season. They only have two umpires (meaning they miss most of the bang bang plays) and no replay. Last month in a game, the infield umpire turns away from a line drive, so she doesn't see the SS catch it, who throws it to 3B to double up the runner. Umpire who didn't see the play rules it a trap instead of a catch. Home plate umpire... defends infield umpire's honor by agreeing with her? Then the manager gets thrown out of the game.
I've tried to follow via highlights, it is some brutally bad baseball.

The play is just poor.
Play is subpar. Imagine what the MLB would be like if there was no youth baseball, no high school baseball, no college baseball, no minor league baseball and your best players came from softball. There are a handful of players who were good enough to play for their high school baseball team or an independent league team, and then the rest are softball players or athletes who were good enough to make it through the open tryouts.
There will need to be girls and women's baseball for many years to increase the talent level.
That game I told you about where the umpire didn't see the play but made a definitive call anyway, a runner tried to steal second base, the catcher's throw was high and wide and made the 2B jump, and they still got the runner.
