Anyone else read the Worlds of DS9: Cardassia and Andor book? I really liked it, both stories were extremely well-written.
I have to agree with you that that poster is quite dreamy....ah....Aragorn...
And I love all of the Deep Space Nine relaunch books! But especially the Worlds of DS9 ones are good. I think my favorite story of those was Andor. I didn't care much for the Bajor story, though. The entire story felt like it was set-up for the next novel (mostly because the story essentially was all set-up for the next novel). It felt like there were too many storylines to follow for such a short story. But in general, the Worlds of DS9 - and the relaunch as a whole - is great reading.
Hehehe, gotta love the Aragorn poster ... so intense, mmm! (OK, so my liking of it isn't based on any artistic grounds, lol!) 
Agree totally with you, BigFoot and stkids - the Andor story was truly excellent. It's a bit of a pity the four-gender thing doesn't seem to have been followed up (at least, so Memory Alpha seems to suggest - I dunno ENT that well you see). But the evocation of the world was so beautiful, and you really felt for Shar.
Btw - just checked out nuBSG on TV for the first time, albeit jumping straight in without a clue (just wanted to check out the tone of the show, see if I'd like it before buying it). It's a bit unrelenting (with the darkness, etc), but yeah, very good TV. I already like Starbuck - she's great.
One thing that occurred to me, though - there are really few space series that don't have a military setting as their basis. Would be interesting to see a different take on it all.

Definitely agreed. There are a few space series that don't have military settings, the one most notably in my mind being Firefly (just watched a couple episodes of it last night
). Although admittedly, the Alliance does play a factor in Firefly, but for the most part the series isn't miltary-based. And it's one of my favorite sci fi series, imo better than almost all of the Star Trek series (with DS9 being the exception). Would be nice to see more shows along that vein, or even just for Firefly itself to have been on for longer!

^ Basically the lead named John Crichton gets sucked through a wormhole to another part of space. There he finds a living ship named Moya with a bunch of different aliens. After that it's just... a lot of fun. There's all sorts of storyline, from the regular alien planet of the week thing, to eps that take place on Moya. He's also chased by a military commander so there is a bit of a military thing going on, but it's more like The Alliance in Firefly.
Um yeah... I don't really wanna tell you too much, but it's definately a really good show and I have to say that it's also the most unique sci-fi show I've ever watched. All the characters are really well done and some of the episodes are quite quite special.

Farscape! All i have to say is that if oyu can get past the puppets, it is indeed an frelling awesome show!

Yeah, Farscape is a great show. It sucked when it was cancelled early, but that miniseries made it all worth while.

Another vote for "Farscape" here.
It's a very good show. Certainly some episodes are alot better than others - it was much more uneven than shows like DS9 or B5. But then, I think "Farscape" took more chances than any other show. I'll say this for the 'scape writers - they had guts!
And the really great scape episodes just totally rock!

Farscape is a good series. A bit on the zany side, but that's part of its charm.

One of you guys, i assume. I'm relatively new to this thread.
With all of this praise for Farscape, I'll have to add it to the list of sci fi series that I haven't seen but would like to. Actually, it's already on my list, so really I should move it to a higher priority on my list. Maybe that will be my next series to watch, after I'm done going through Babylon 5.
