Anyone else read the Worlds of DS9: Cardassia and Andor book? I really liked it, both stories were extremely well-written.

). Although admittedly, the Alliance does play a factor in Firefly, but for the most part the series isn't miltary-based. And it's one of my favorite sci fi series, imo better than almost all of the Star Trek series (with DS9 being the exception).
