Bar 'n' Grill - Part II

Indeed, it has been all too quiet here around the bar 'n' grill. We shall have to put forth effort to keep this thread going...the B5 thread is nice, but we don't want this one to die away!

Truth be told, I could never get into B5. I watched it three times: 1993, 1998, and 2002. The last time, I almost got hooked but my life was sooo busy that year I never watched it again. Afterwards I thought to myself, "You know what? It's probably too late and too far after the fact now, just accept you missed the boat and wait for the next one." Then BSG came and everything I heard about B5 being more realistic was covered by Battlestar Galactica.

Life is less hectic now, I'm in the 9-5 routine (8:30-5 really, but let's not split hairs) instead of going to school, working afterwards, running a club as president, and moderating (wish I still had all that energy now), so if Sci-Fi happens to air it again, I'll try to record it and watch it regularly.

But, yeah, I was totally lost here for a while.

Wow! The forum was pretty busy today while I was at work!

After I get off the treadmill, I might have actually hang out and do some WORK around here!

So...what did everyone think of BSG and SG-1 this past weekend?

Hey my peeps, I'm back! I know y'all missed me so here I am, ready to be showered with compliments and kisses.

You suck!

Who said that?

But seriously, what happened? I'm gone for three weeks and this whole thread is goin down the drain. Has everybody migrated to the B5 thread or what?

Yeah, seems most people have transferred their posting energies over to the B5 thread.

In my life news (if anyone cares...), I just got a promotion yesterday! Now granted, when I say "promotion" that doesn't mean too much. It's my last year of college and I have an on-campus job. I was just promoted to a student manager position at that job, so I'll now be receiving $10/hour instead of $8.25/hour. Pretty nice!

Also, I am seemingly successfully converting one of my friends to a Niner! She likes Star Trek (most particularly TOS, but she also liked TNG and most recently ENT), but she had never seen much of DS9 or VOY. So I have been changing that by showing her some selected episodes of DS9. She really likes battle scenes so I recently showed her season six's opening arc and I think I've won her over. :D

I've said already, but the last two weeks of BSG has been a bit of a loosing streak. I guess it was bound to happen one of these days, but I hope it can rebound going into the home stretch. Like I said, I saw the end of Atlantis, and really enjoyed it, even though I don't know what is going on.

Sounds like someone needs to spam up the place to keep it afloat. Now ... that won't be me. ;) but i will get some blood wine.

Did someone call for random musings? Has anyone tried repeating themselves for dramatic effect in real life?

I bought a donut today and told the clerk to keep the change. Then I said "keep the change" again for no reason. The clerk looked at me kind of strange and served the next customer.

Perhaps I need to make a dramatic exit.
That means I'll need a cape....

^ Humm...I didn't think it was a losing streak.

I think it's getting better, in fact.

Yeah I know I'm in a minority, and I did find Epiphinies much better than RSII, but it was still average. I'd like to see now that Roslin is "cured" how this affects the Pythia Prophacy now. There are so many interesting possibilites that it's hard not to like this show.

A monocle wouldn't hurt either.

Agreed. I like the resolution to Pegasus because of how murky it is. Things can be interpreted in so many ways. As far as the last episode, it's setting things up for the rest of the season. The direction the storylines seem to be going on garauntee a pay-off.

Spoiler:
Roslin knows about Baltar and Six, they focused on them for a reason, so I'm thinking Baltar is soon to be an ex-vice-president.

^ One can only hope.

Spoiler:
Although in fairness, I don't mind his storyline with the "real" Six on the Pegasus - that has been quite moving in parts, actually.
I just can't stand that whole imaginary girlfriend thing on the Galactica. Realistically, acting as he has in public, he should have been in a padded room by now - not as VP of the colonies. ;)

And another thing - Roslin needs to change the number on the whiteboard, to account for the people gained with the Pegasus. :scream: Details, details, details.

Or maybe it's just the accountant in my coming out.

^
I'm pretty sure it has been updated. It was around 47k in the episode before Pegasus, and it shot up around 2000 after that episode to 49k.

Hmmmmm....random musing (takes sip of kanaar, ruminates).

Ever notice how the wormhole looks like a big cloud when it open/closes? In order for it to look that way, any sane (even drunk) physicist will tell you that there has to be matter expelled from the wormhole against which some kind of light is being reflected/emitted. Where does that matter go? You'd think it would be sucked into the wormhole again, but what about ships that fly out of the wormhole on their own? Do they trail any of this matter? And, if so, how long would it take (ie, how many ships would have to fly through) before the wormhole 'dries up'?

If the wormhole dries up, do the Prophets die? What about Sisko, since he's technically corporeal?

Hmmm. Better hand me another bottle of that kanaar.

*pours some kanar for Elmo Dukat; takes a swig herself*

I think the Prophets just said "let the wormhole open and be pretty and blue", and lo, so it was. But that's because I'm not a physicist and can't give you a proper answer ... :(

Am off to bed ... it's my nephew's 1st birthday tomorrow! And hordes of family will be descending upon the house to make a big fuss over him (and eat lots of cake)! It's going to be great, actually. :)

*helps himself to some Kanar*

Well, if it's goin' round...

I think I better go to bed now too, or I'm not gonna be up in the morning. Hope you have a lovely day tomorrow Llanita.

We've already seen that the Prophets exert some power over matter in (and possibly around) the wormhole that would defy ordinary physics, ie. the disappearance of the Dominion fleet in Sacrifice of Angels. So it seems plausible that they're also capable of creating some matter when the wormhole opens for the pretty blue effect.
